This is my full review of the Garmin R10 launch monitor. Is it the best launch monitor under $1,000, or is it an expensive toy?

Returned it. Missed maybe 1 out of every 5 shots. Useless. Did all the updates and calibrations and measurements suggested. It just wouldn't stop missing random shots. Very frustrating. If you don't mind it missing random shots then buy it. It's also not accurate with the driver. It's about 20 yards short. Also if you're smash factor is too low it won't give you club head path or other club data when using RCT balls.

@EPTRotorsports says:

Using the proper ball is super important. Regular balls create a bit of misreads.

I just need something that shows my slice so i can fix my swing, i can worry about ball speed spin launch angle and all that when i fix my swing.

I think you tried to give a non-bias review but there's so many factors it's kind of tricky. In summary I think what really hurt your review here is once you took it to the range you had the r10 on a different level than your ball. That and not having a line up can have a dramatic difference in results. The r10, if set up on the same level and in line can have margin of error almost on par with the trackman. I'm not just pulling this out of my bottom either, lol I have done hundreds of hours of testing with it personally at the range and at my home simulator comparing multiple different models.

great video thank you

Any have issues charging it? I just bought one mainly to just get my iron distances which my local ranges don't have. I plugged it in and it doesn't seem to charge. I get the red flashing light but does that for a very very long time.

Interesting Video, just two points (1) The gamin R10 and the ball (on the mat) should be at the same hight with no diffence of higth between the R10 and mat. (2) On the range you are not using RCT balls, thi swill impact the outcome.

@mycommentpwnz says:

I just bought this last week, and I have to say, it seems INSANELY ACCURATE.
Maybe 1 in 10, or 1 in 15, seem a little dubious.

@jstone9462 says:

Did you try the image recording with andriod too? I'm concerned the video quality is the standard apple media downgrade when the other device isn't using ios.

To really enjoy home tee hero courses and driving range, the R10 needs to show accurate carry distances for long irons, hybrids, fairway woods and driver. My normally 260-265 driver distance will show merely 210-215 yds. I'm hitting the RCT balls into my backyard 10' x 10' x10'00H caged net. I'm set up 4' ' back from cage opening. Even when I artificially set the elevation to 10,000 ft, the distances are still way off. I'm at 1280-ft natural elevation. I should not have to trick the unit to get real life distances. R10 software is updated. What can I do to get accurate data ? Try dissalointinh?

@tacticaledc says:

I'll toss some of my Data Science background in here and say that if I can collect enough data between the R10 and an accurate system, I can average out the variance for each club and apply that number to the output displayed for a more accurate reading.

@boredymcboredface8624 says:

There are a bunch of videos on how to get more accurate data – change the altitude, use different balls etc etc (different software helps). honestly 2-3m in doors vs on the course won’t make huge difference to most people unless you are playing off a very very low handicap and you are very consistent- well if that’s the case then you know that you actually hit longer and can calibrate it properly. If you only swing a club once a month when you play or even every few weeks then hitting a ball a few times a week will help.
