Wedge play has always been the part of my game that holds me back. I hit it long or short way too often, and it’s costing me shots and tournaments. In this video, Liam Robinson puts my wedges to the test and shows me exactly what I’ve been doing wrong – and how to finally fix it.
This was one of the most eye-opening lessons I’ve had, and if you struggle with distance control or dialling in your wedges, you’ll take a lot from this too.
➡️ Watch as we break down my biggest weakness and work on the drills that can transform wedge play.
➡️ See why hitting wedges too long is such a common issue – and how you can avoid it.

What test are you doing on trackman?
This is a game changer for you.
Bro are those spandex?
Fascinating… 👍
You can’t improve what you don’t measure Applies to all areas of sport, business, personal goals
Keep pushing mate
Is there any way that us with no Trackman can practice this ?
With your length and putting if you get your wedge game good your scoring has to go to a totally different level.
Liam is the chad of golf
Maybe you can learn from Sidekick. He identify a problem and go straight direct with the lesson. I even dont know what's the problem is here. To much talking about what pro do.
momentum with the game – momentum with the channel ❤❤
So obvious to do tests like this to improve, but first vid I have seen which explains why it’s obvious! Brilliant👍
James and Liam, after watching The Ryder Cup – this is absolute gold. Down the stretch, I felt more Euro players were leaving their approaches shorter (and putts) than the US players which equated to US birdies and the US getting too close!!! Incredible pressure, when your 'not on the money' wedge added red to the leaderboard and HEAPED LOTS of pressure on your following team mates.
I'm going to miss the putter from 50yds and in😂. James Wedgeshire let's go!
Cam Young esque touch now
Yes. All of this!
Compile your stats for your 3-4 most common approach distances on course, and use those in TM.
Develope your feels for each wedge and approach iron yardage (to lead arm parallel, to shoulder height, and full. Or, half, 3/4 and full).
Then you can dial in even further with grip. Say 60° 3/4 goes 88 yards. Flag is 83 yards. 60° half goes 75. Grip down 1" for 60° 3/4.
Write down all stock yardages for all wedges and approach irons on a card for full, 3/4 and half and keep in your bag. Plus, what gripping down 1" and 2" equates to for yardage off.
After these dialed in, then off to next level – flighting and spin control.
Love the progress 👊
