they jacked up the lofts on both of these sets of irons. The G430 requires 5 wedges to make the gapping work. All in the name of adding distance to irons, which is stupid, because you want distance consistency, not longer distance with irons. Trying to make 75 year old guys hit their "8 iron" as far as they did when they were 35. So incredibly confusing and stupid.

@Tommy_ZM says:

440’s are better but if you have 430’s it’s not enough of a reason to upgrade

@waywardwest says:

When compared side by I think the G430 has a thinner top line. I really like the fact that both are game improvement irons but don't look like it at address. They do a great job of hiding the technology.

@alanrutland4424 says:

Very interesting results from this test as does look like the G440 is an improvement. I do wonder whether a reduction in swing speed to what a lot of people have makes the same difference.

@johnhenderson2642 says:

higher handicaps do not want a smaller/slimmer head size or longer shaft….

@meldavies says:

Impressive numbers from both but especially the g440. Love the look of them. Very nice looking irons.

@jedi65 says:

Agreed, if you already own a set of the G430's (or even if you're buying new and picking between the 2) there's not enough improvement to justify the cost difference.

Could be just me, but I've never ran across a mid too high handicapper who's ever mentioned "Man, if it sounded just a little better, it wouldn't have went into the woods?" 🤔

@paulbiscione8168 says:

I believe the shaft is longer on the new 440s. Longer shaft equals more club head speed and distance I’d assume.
Personably, after all the hype around the release I’m not super jazzed up on the new 440. I have the 430s and play them like I shouldn’t even be in this category (because I was fitted so well). To be fair, I did hit the new 440s and didn’t feel any difference. In fact, I even felt the ball came off my own club softer.
Well, opinions onions….

Thanks Ryan, Love your content
I belive these feel quite hard compared to the likes of Mizuno & Srixon
What is your iron recommendation currently for a high handicapper with a 75mph swinger please?
Forgiveness, feel and distance
