*The Golf Swing: Think of Chopping Wood*
Ben Hogan always said: use both hands. But the hidden truth in golf is this — what people don’t say is more important than what they do.
Most beginners step up with an idea in their head, then try to smash the ball. The result? A mess — topped shots, slices, whiffs. That’s because the body hasn’t learned the correct motion yet. So let’s train the move first, no ball needed.
*Step 1: Chop Straight Down*
Picture holding an axe with two hands. Chop straight down into the log. Feel how your whole body drives that move. That’s your foundation.
*Step 2: Chop the Side of the Log*
Now chop the right side of the log. That’s basically your current golf swing: hands working alone, body out of sync.
*Step 3: Slide Through the Front*
Here’s the magic. We’re going to bring the axe through the front of the log. To make that happen, adjust your grip at the very start of the downswing:
* Make a *small move* to set the swing.
* Right hand: don’t squeeze with your fingers. Let the club rest in your palm, wrist locked.
* Grip pressure: **Level 1 out of 10**. Barely holding it.
With that palm locked, your arms move together, and your body naturally turns. At impact, you’ll find yourself fully behind the ball. The locked palm keeps everything steady, and the club path shifts into a natural inside-out strike.
*Training Drill*
Forget the ball for now. Grab a broomstick (pull the head off). Go out back and swing it like you’re chopping wood — hard, fast, again and again. Train your body to feel the move. Once that becomes natural, then pick up a club.
"Ro Un LEE" vidoes for how to increase CORE BODY SPEED using sticks.
I prefer people use a Impact Golf Swing Training Bag. Need to learn check swing and abrupt stop
We do not want our body move front instead up after impact. Left side up. So this help body pose.
