@roberttaylor1801 says:

Distance is only relative. Distance can be good but only if the ball ends up in the fairway, preferably the fairway of the hole you are playing. All things being equal correct path, correct alignment, correct loft etc it's all good but it's no good if you hitting 300 yards with a slice or a hook. Personally if I hit a 250 yard drive into the fairway of the hole I am playing and it's not in a divot it's a mid iron, if it's a par 5 it's a long iron or a hybrid. Too much emphasis on driver, learn to play irons first

@Porklion says:

A true fitting would be amazing… But the reality is most "fittings" are you going into a golf galaxy or whatever and they just have you hit the latest irons/drivers that just came out into a simulator screen 😂 it's a joke

@GoinLO says:

The problem with average golfers is they aren’t consistent enough for it to really matter. They have a new swing each time they hit the course. Another thing is if you are newer and get fitted, those clubs won’t fit you very well if you get better. Best thing to do would be get your shaft flex figured out, club length, and lie. Then just go buy some used clubs in that general area

@Samuel-I says:

Distance is great and all… but Dispersion is the key.
I’d rather be 10yds shorter and have a narrow landing pattern 100 times out of 100.

@troyrager1352 says:

Soooo, yes?

@Deitysoul-f6g says:

I take accuracy over distance I usually go for clubs with more traditional lofts as modern clubs are all jacked up to the max.

@pickin4you says:

It of you don’t have a repetitive swing, a fitting too will do more damage than good. Don’t bother with a fitting unless you are consistent.

@SSundesson-h5s says:

lmao 80% of golfers dont need it

@NissanChristophe says:

Reality – Getting fitted is yet another marketing gimmick that won't help the average golfer who does not have a repeatable swing. Pros have sponsors. Sponsors sell equipment and push people to get fitted.

Where I live, there is a guy who plays 18 holes with a single club: A $2.99 putter he purchased from Goodwill. He's in his 60s and shoots in the 70s using this single club for every shot. (Google "Anthony Griggs, Phoenix, Golf)

@maxbialystock254 says:

Yes Learn that better lies can save you lots of money. Giggity

@slingblade8963 says:

Tiger's definition of an amateur is someone playing off scratch who can't make the pro circuit.

@Tall-Cool-Drink says:

Fitting won't help an average weekend golfer, until they fix their swing.

@cheefussmith9380 says:

I don’t know why the internet hates on fitting so much. Where I live it’s like $50 and they apply it to the cost of the clubs. Seems like a reasonable deal either way.

@BigG61 says:

Do not get fitted if your swing is not stable enough. Get a Lesson, get comfortable swinging golf, no more hooks slice fat and thin, and then you can get fitted.

@khalidnawaf1196 says:

A fitting adjusts the clubs to your current swing. If your swing has flaws, the fitter may compensate for them.

@joekaczmarek341 says:

Of course, average golfers can't do 40 pounds of steroids like Tiger Woods.

@tavern77 says:

a 5 hcp fitting is very different from a 15hcp or a 30hcp

@Truthsayer1206 says:

Thank you Tiger for giving Honest Advice to Help everyone improve their game.

@bradyvilhauer4445 says:

I don’t think Tiger really has much comprehension of the term “amateur”… he’s way beyond that, he forgot what one even is 😂. Kidding, but yeah I agree with most comments, fittings are cool but in my opinion, most “amateurs” should not get fit especially if they have fairly average height & arm length

@itzvapid3855 says:

The main thing a average golfer should worry about with fitting is shaft flex, length, and lie angle. Those are the main contributors to improving game with a fitting. Now once you get better you can go into the nitty gritty like shaft weights, and different types of shafts, and really trying to dial in the subtle things when the improvements won’t be as drastic

@molonlabe9602 says:

I'd just buy all the clubs and balls on TV that promise to lower your score by "X" amount of strokes and soon we are shooting under 60 consistently on 18 holes. They guarantee the stroke savings, don't they.

@SuluBooga666 says:

Tiger : it's fun
Is that the whole thing ?😂

@duckydrummer6331 says:

So what exactly was the advice? I didn’t really get what Tiger was saying.
