Always use your right arm like this in the golf swing. The right arm plays a huge role in the golf swing. It sets the golf club on the proper backswing and downswing path. It makes all the important positions happen without thinking. Instead of playing positions, golfers who use the right arm correctly need to only focus on turning their shoulders. The rest of the swing will take care of itself.
There's a reason why the right arm has helped millions of golfers improve their ball striking. There's a reason why Ben Hogan, the best golf ball striker of all time used his right arm like this. This golf tip works wonders. Instead of overthinking the swing, use Ben Hogan's right arm secrets. You'll love the why the strike feels with the golf ball.

The best example ever golf swing explained.
I already gained 20 meters and straight like an arrow.
Unnecessary fresh cheese comment 😂
Hogan also hit his 7iron like 135. Accuracy or power. We all must chose.
This just fixed everything
Wow. That is what I made a video of to do beginning of next season. Saguto, youve done it again!!! Ive been looking for a video to confirm what Im doing. Many want that elbow in at bottom of swing. But why not start there, keep it there, top, thru and bottom.
Gary Player also practised this, i use to watch him for hours on the practise ground and copied him, this was in the 60,s, helped me maintain a low single handicap, and encouraged me to swing in to out.
Does this also apply with fairwoods and drivers? Thank you! Great video
You're amazing, my friend … the best golf coach in the world!
Tom. What do you think is driving this club straight back/clubhead outside the hands stuff?
Wow thanks golfing matt smith
All the old blokes aged 70 plus at my golf club who are still low handicappers and who all hit long & straight without much effort, ALL have naturally tucked trail elbows 🤦♂️
Tom…Life is NOT to short to play bad golf…but..Life IS TOO short to play bad golf…spelt wrong on your screen….
Fresh cheese? 😂
The simplicity is amazing golf shots thanks
i will work on this technique, well explained, dont want to smell them armpits, good analogy 🙂
How much are lessons?
Are there any drills or feels for how to actually accomplish this change? This is something I have been trying to improve, and I can keep the elbow in during slow rehearsal swings. But every time I try to make an actual swing (even half or 9-to-3 swings), I look at the video and my elbow keeps flying out, as my upper body wants to spin out over the plane. Not sure if it's a mental block, or if I need to think about starting the downswing differently in order to actually keep the elbow in, or what…
Using Five Lessons to reboot my swing in 2008-2010 made me realize the key to getting the trail arm externally rotated is actually the placement of the trail hand over the lead in the grip.
The more anti-clockwise you get that trail hand over the top of the lead in a right handed swing the sooner the trail wrist will max out in extension in his “outside the hands” one-piece hips/shoulders/hand together take away. The trail wrist maxing out in extension is what literally FORCES the trail arm to fold elbow down and then the trail forearm to EXTERNALLY ROTATE to the max. which creates that “waiter lifting the tray” leverage to very consistently guide the lead arm which bears the swing force from takeaway until both arms get pulled straight in the finish and then trail arm bears the load for the rest of swing.
That’s why grip is so important. If the grip does not force the trail arm to fold ideally in the backswing it will not come back down and tuck in ideally in the downswing. Hogan made this even more consistent by utilizing a flatter swing plane that favors a tight inside-out draw ball flight but is also so incredibly consistent that buy just changing stance and face angle when first gripping the club it is possible to predictably hit fade, straight or draw shots if practicing and playing regularly.
From 2008-2018 I played every day, weather permitting and with Hogan’s technique controlling ball striking and shot shape became instinctive. I can still do it because I swing a club in the yard everyday but not with the same degree of consistency because I only get to the course to play once a week.
A trick I learned to get a square face at impact was to put myself in the hip /shoulder open – spine side bent IMPACT position BEFORE GRIPPING THE CLUB! Getting the face back there square at impact becomes MUCH easier that way. Try it and what you will discover if you stand up and hold the club out in front over the ball with shaft horizontal is that the face of club will be angled forward 45°
Why? Because of the 45° difference in hip angle between the conventional “hips – shoulders parallel” address technique and where the hips actually are at impact. If you grip club from impact posture, or alternatively just grip in air with face angled 45° and lower it square behind the ball it is no longer necessary to dorsiflex ( – bow -the lead hand at impact to square face to target. Much less strain on the lead wrist that way 😊
Tony Lema on Ed Sullivan in 1966 … still best tip ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P7khYtcFlk
I’m excited to try the tucked arm on all my clubs but for some reason I came up with same idea but it was for putting and it has been really helpful.. I guess I’m staying more connected. Can’t wait to try this out with all the other clubs Thank you!!
Why do I get such John C Reilly vibes off Tom sometimes? Especially when the camera switches.
