Whats your opinion on these vs, the 2023 big bertha, or apex dcb??
I had these last year. Went back to a forged iron in traditional lofts. Playing a tournament went into 17 with a 2 shot lead. Was 190 out to a back pin. I was hitting the 5 iron 180-185 decided to hit the 5i with a smooth swing. Ball flew over the pin at least 205 into the woods. That really cost me and I lost the tournament by 1 stroke. The unpredictable distance flyers don’t work for me. I know that I don’t want clubs going further than a certain distance and getting older I thought maybe a little distance gain would help. Not at all just take more club now days.
The numbers on the bottom of all clubs now mean nothing ….the traditional matrix of golf clubs have been dramatically changed by the manufacturer….the only loft you need to know is your sand iron …..being 56 then build from there …good luck enjoy your golf . Traded in my older Titleist t200 irons for the Calloway Paradym irons I just received this week. This video is beginning to make me think I made a big mistake. In my fitting had Wilson dynaforged irons and Mizuno JPX 923. Both hit well. Not a happy golfer
Maybe the extra length pertains to the fact that the ai smoke 7 iron is 28degree loft similar to an old fashioned 5 iron, that is naturally longer

Good stuff Andy. The course I play at has medium to firm turf and a lot of approach shots with drastic elevation changes. Narrow greens with ob tall grass/plants to the left, right and behind them. I need to be able to hit the ball high, predictably somewhat straight and hold a green. I sweep the ball too. Low spin low launch distance irons do not benefit me. Neither do high bounce wide soled irons with extreme offset. Not sure where that leaves me. The g710’s I currently use are a fit and a misfit at the same time. I do benefit from the forgiveness they offer. I wish they had less bounce. I did demo the ai smoke 4 hybrid and was blown away by the consistency and dispersion. No misses left or right. It was a gift from the Golf Gods. As is the stealth 2 hd 5 wood.
This is a good review. Thanks for doing the work and actually digging in and reviewing instead of doing a typical hype up review that a lot of others do.
Now I’m confused, I have been looking for a players shape iron with a bit more forgiveness which is what I feel the Ai Smoke were aimed for. The offset is actually less than many other players distance models, and after watching many of your reviews I thought you would have made that a point. In the store these 2 models don’t look anywhere near the same profile, so again I was surprised you didn’t even mention that as these are similar to the shape of the other irons you have loved. You loved the Rogue ST pros, I feel like these are those replacements, head shape are almost identical, or am I wrong. I had the old Rogue Pros and had trouble with 4-5, so I was hoping the AI Smoke were just a bit more forgiving. You loved the St Pros but hate these, so I am not on the fence what to buy? Callaway is offering double trade in value right now, but on the AI Smokes, not Rogue St Pros. I was ordering them -.25 in to get them basically normal length and custom shafts are free. Help

I’ve played w both the standard Ai and the HL, the Standard is softer, w the right shaft it works very well. The HL was good as well, almost too forgiving for me, because you lose even more workability. Nice irons nice review! Ty
I have these and the Mizuno 245s. I do not like these at all. They dont feel right and seem harder to hit consistently
Just picked up the hl today. Was throwing absolute darts in the booth at the golf shop. Then i went to the outdoor range and was throwing darts again. Straight as an arrow. So far so great
