Often our golf swing may be off-balance due to a poorly posed follow through finish. Basic golf theory suggests that if at any point during our swing we step out of balance, we will be off balance at the end of the swing.

Such imbalance in our golf swing leads to missed shots, frustrations on the golf course, and a poor experience playing the game.

When golfers make holding their finish each time they swing a focal point of the overall exercise, our body will adapt to staying in balance from beginning to end.

Many players never give much thought to the follow through portion of their swings, but due to the crucial nature of our follow through, holding position should be practiced just as we train any portion of our overall swing.

When practicing, make sure that you remain in the finish position until the golf ball has landed onto the ground.

Evident when spectating PGA Golf Pro events, most fans will take note of golfers holding their follow through pose until they see the ball land onto the turf.

These paused poses are not simply to give the photographers a great shot, their follow through provides an entire insight into the quality of their overall swing.

Many experts can determine what a golfer did correctly and incorrectly based solely on the pose they take during their follow through.

Often golfers hold their pose for an extended period of time, which indicates that the swing was most likely poorly executed.

A clear element that signifies a good follow through exhibits through a finish that positions the golf club behind the golfer's shoulders and head. With hands at shoulder height or higher and the club head on the opposite side of the golfer's body, it can be determined that a good swing has been taken.

In most cases both of the player's elbows will remain relatively low in their finish, with the front elbow slightly higher than the back elbow, with both remaining below ear level for the player.

Always make sure that your arms remain in a comfortable stance when resting post shot.
