ABOUT ME:

I’m Liam Harrison, Bolton born and bred. I’m a lover of Golf, life and laughter.

Started Golf 12 years ago after packing in football when i was 28 due to a back injury.

I started the Youtube channel as a laugh and a Wim, to make me practice but that went out the window as i started vlogging, loving being on camera but more so the interaction with my #golfmates.

In 14 months i have seen the channel evolve and become the only real golf community on Youtube which i am extremly proud of.

I would like to thank all the #golfmates that have been with us and supported us and the channel from the start. Also not forgetting our new #golfmates that may have only just come across the channel.

  1. From Farnworth, but moved near Pennington Flash, Leigh about 7 years ago, and learned to play there as it is VERY cheap. I like the varied holes at Pennington, but avoid it if we've had rain cos it turns into a swamp. Before the pandemic I played every day, to try and get better (got a bit better), in all kinds of weather, even fog. Now I realise it is best played in summer. Love the channel. It's real golf.?

  2. Got both my sons Daniel and Adam into golf with lessons at Duxbury Park with Gary Treadgold around 35 years ago, after that they played Regents Park regularly as we lived in Horwich at that time, Did you know Sam Torrance Caddy the late Malcolm Mason was a Horwich lad, my ex wife went to school with him, she spotted him at the open and was chatting with him for ages on the practice area lol.

  3. Bolton Municipal Golf Course is where I first played golf when I was at school. Lived on Johnsonfold Estate so I had to catch 2 bus’s to get me to the course (one down Chorley Old Road and then one up Chorley New) Road. What I remember most about playing at the Muni was the system for getting on the course, you dropped your ball in a wire tube, fitted to the clubhouse wall, that sloped down from left to right and when your ball came out the end it was your turn to tee off ? Hard to believe, I’ve never seen a system like it since ? Love the videos, keep up the great work.

  4. Just found this ..where I started ..junior season ticket in school holidays ..there every day at 7 for 36 holes…you had to put your ball in a trough before you could book tee times so I often dropped a ball off and returned a Couple of hours later.. ..I played it when the holes were numbered different and don't think I ever parred the 3rd like you ..it seemed miles..the old 16th was good through the trees over the water. Playing there one day ..my mate hit his ball into the water and decided to get his ball..balancing on some boards…splaaaaash…2 and a half holes played with a smelly drenched golfer….thanks for bringing the memories back..keep well.

  5. I used to play this back in the day. But started off playing on the now defunct Bolton open in Harwood. Used to sneak onto a few holes from 8 year old then became a junior member and played till I was 20 in 2006.
Moved now and play Rishton, mostly solo.

  6. I learned on Brackley golf course in Little Hulton? they shut it down a few years back. I pretty much grew up on there. I used to spend hours in the roughs as a kid collecting lost balls and then make my way home clean them up and then go back on to sell them ?? them was the days

  7. you had more pitch and puts when i was young played at ley hill until they closed them all ,lickey hills municipal i learnt full length i wonder if you could find the best municipal in England be a masive task though

  8. This is one of the courses I learnt to play on, back when the front nine and back nine were the other way around. It’s a very nice muni now.
Great video, can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this channel.

  9. Learned to play golf on the very same course……started at age 11. Used to get 2 busses across Bolton to get there at 4:30 am / 5am, play the round and get off without paying before it opened up properly. The course was very different in 1978 / early 80s, more open and more clumps of marsh grass everywhere. Good times.

  10. For my UK Mates…come to the states and see what you get for the same price as Regent Park. I've played on what can only be called "cow pastures" that are more expensive than Regent Park. I'm envious of what is called a "poor course" in UK compared to what we have here.

  11. I grew up playing this course,….they changed a few holes on the front 9 a few years ago because they were so wet…unfortunately the new holes aren't much better,. Which is the big problem here…its been poorly maintained for the last 10 years…bad greens, sand less bunkers and for some bizarre reason , the snobbiest members I've ever come across!!……its a shame , because there's a really decent course hidden under that crap!!!!

  12. Learned the swing @ Green Spring Valley Hunt Club. Learned etiquette @ Houston Country Club. Learned to strike the ball @ Hermann Park, Learning to score @ Gus Wortham…thanks OMP!:-)

  13. Nothing in the world is better than Municipal golf courses; Bolton Muni looks awesome – would love to have a round there. Brilliant Liam, just brilliant!

  14. I started at Bolton Munie in 1974, had a different layout then, no driving range, and they have switched the 9s round, the holes you played were the old 11th then 2nd and 3rd.

  15. Learned to play at muni courses in Milwaukee County Wisconsin, USA with my dad as my first coach. Took a group lesson at one of them. I had 2 brothers and a couple school friends that would get on our bikes with our clubs slung across our backs and peddle to Grant Park Golf course for an early morning tee time. We would then bike to Warnimont Park and go to the public swimming pool. Warnimont also had a 9 hole par 3 course. After a swim we would play that course. Great times. Brothers are Golfmates forever!
