The time has come for the new World Handicap System (WHS) to be put into practice. Although originally launched in January 2020 in many countries, the new WHS will be in place for golfers in GB&I from November 2nd 2020.
In the build up to this date, there have been a lot of rumours circulating about why these governing bodies have decided to adopt a new World Handicap System, what it will entail, how it will work, and most of all how it will affect golfers' handicaps.
HowDidiDo, Europe's largest online golfing community has partnered up with England Golf to hear directly from an expert – Gemma Hunter, the Head of Handicapping and Course Rating at England Golf to help you understand the changes.

When the competition results come through on HowDidiDo as you know it's possible to click on anyone's name and see how they did hole by hole. However this is not available to see a female round hole by hole. Why is this?
Trying hard to bring my handicap under 20 but every time I play well in a comp some 30+ handicapper gets ridiculous scores , on a plus note my handicap has come down but I get an extra shot on the front 9 ????????

WHS GOLF 1 why can you not just say your handicap is say 20 , non of this if you play off white we will give you a shot or if you play off yellow or red you play off 20 . IT IS A LIE YOU CHANGE THE RULES BECAUSE NOW ITS 95% WHETHER MEDAL A COMP STABLEFORD, INSTEAD OF IT BEING 21 WHITE OR 20 OFF YELLOW ITS NOT ITS 20 OFF WHITES 19 OFF YELLOW AND 20 AND 19 IN A STABLEFORD . I would say from 2/3rds who are higher h/c we will not play any form now of comp off white tees it's too far and since 29 April 2021 no one at our club is shooting their handicap in comps . woolleygolfer6@gmail.com

NO YOU TAKE IT OFF BY 95%. IF I PLAY IN A COMP OFF YELLOWS I PLAY OFF MY HANDICAP YES !!! ? NO YOU TAKE ONE STROKE OFF SO ITS LESS BY ONE STROKE. IF I PLAY IN A STABLEFORD ACCORDING TO YOUR SYSTEM ITS 85% OUR CLUB PLAYS 95% BUT I STILL LOSE ONE OR TWO STROKES . MATCHPLAY, SINGLES, PAIRS, GREENSOMES, FOURSOMES, 4BBB, TEAM EVENTS , I CAN UNDERSTAND. SO WHEN DO I PLAY OFF THE HANDICAP GIVEN PER TEES . I DO NOT IS THE ANSWER. Why is it that my last round has a different score differential with England golf to that on V1.
I scored 84 off a course handicap of 11, corse rating 124 PCC of 1. Competition handicap was 10 and I had a 6 on a par3 index 11. Eng golf diff is 11.6 V1 is 11.5
Hi Paul once more This WHS is unfair in one other way BUNKERS . Now golf days are great but your WHS does not take into account players in comps and those playing for fun . BY THIS I MEAN AT THE CLUB WHERE I PLAY THOSE NOT IN A COMP WILL NOT TAKE A RAKE AND THEN ITS ONE PER PERSON OTHER PLAYERS THOSE FOR FUN DO NOT IN SOME CASES SMOOTH IT OVER WITH THEIR FEET THEY JUST WALK OUT SO BEING UNFAIR TO COMP PLAYERS , THE HANDICAP DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR A PLAYER LANDING IN A BUNKER AND HEEL PRINT SO IS AT A DISADVANTAGE BECAUSE OF COVID19 . Hi what is a Handicap.!!!! Well its a mockery now . PAIRS 95 OR 85 % OF LOWEST H/C OK BUT STABLEFORD 95% AND THEN WE HAVE MEDAL . WE PLAY OFF YELLOW TEES BUT IF WE PLAY IN A MEDAL YES I GAIN A SHOT OK BUT THEN YOU TAKE IT AWAY BY MAKING IT 95% . NO MORE COMPS THEN FOR ME . WHITES ARE OVER 600 YARDS FURTHER AND THATS JUST THE HOLES . IF I PLAY FOR FUN AND ENTER IT ON PHONE AS SUCH ITS 95% SO WHEN IS A HANDICAP A HANDICAP ??? FOR EXAMPLE I WAS OFF 16.6 SO PLAYING HANDICAP OFF YELLOW 17 BUT IF I PLAY OFF WHITE YOU GAVE ME ONE SHOT MORE 18 THEN IN YOUR WISDOM YOU CHOSE IT TO BE 95 % THEREFORE SO ITS 17 . YOU SHOULD SAY YOUR H/C IS 17 PLAY OFF ANY TEE ITS 17 . YOU COULD HAVE MADE IT SIMPLE H/C TO 24 THAT IS WHAT YOU PLAY FROM IN MEDAL STABLEFORD OTHER THAN EVENTS THAT ARE PAIRS . LIKE 2015 I THINK A 28 BECAME 24 THEN 3/4 SO THEY HAD NO CHANCE AS I COULD NOT PLAY IF I LOST 10 SHOTS EITHER. .

I can do a better job of engineering the audio from the original file if you want.
I think the new system is fairer and more accurate and once bedded in will be better, and more interesting, for the average golfer.
