Golf Lessons – How to Play a Bunker Shot

Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper – Many players I meet have a fear of playing shots from a bunker. Their fear is based on the difficulty they have in playing this shot, but playing this shot well is not unlike any other shot. If you have good fundamentals and invest a little time practicing them you will be able to get the ball out of the bunker and close to hole very often. In this video I demonstrate those fundamentals and share a skills progression that will help you to become a much better bunker player. http://www.derekhoopergolf.com/

  1. Well done! I am a 4 handicap, but lost my technique and control out of
greed-side bunkers. My miss has been low brained shots over the green. I
suspect flipping the club. Fat shot also, but I see you responded already
on that. Thanks again for the great video!

  2. Derek, found the advice very beneficial but still hitting 2/3 inches behind
the ball on line drill and only getting out of bunker 6 or 7/10 attempts.
Any thoughts on why I am having this issue? Not standing tall enough? Not
    going down grip enough?

  3. Having trouble getting the ball close to the hole from a bunker? Here are
some ideas that will help you get up and down more often.

    All the best
