Golf Postcast: US PGA Championship Betting Preview

The final Major of the season, the US PGA Championship, kicks off at Bellerive Country Club on Thursday morning and despite the tournament not being broadcast on television the Postcast team are confident of profiting from the event.

Bruce Millington is in the hot seat and he's joined by Steve Palmer of the Racing Post and Iain McLaughlin from our sponsors Paddy Power

On the show:

– The team lament the fact that the final Major of the season won't be broadcast on television in Britain or Ireland

– Steve is hoping to pay off at least a sixth of his mortgage by getting behind Aussie favourite Jason Day

– Iain's pinning his hopes to Bubba Watson and man Steve is also keen to get involved with

– The lads also give us some bigger-priced fancies and some interesting bets in the ‘top' markets and the first round leader markets

– Steve delivers an Australian-themed version of #ThisWillNotBeBeaten

This week's bets:

Steve's outright: Jason Day (18-1)
Steve's others: Thomas Pieters (90-1), Nick Watney (150-1), Russell Henley (80-1), Aaron Wise (90-1)

Iain's outright: Bubba Watson (40-1)
Iain's others: Patrick Cantlay (35-1), Bryson DeCahmbeau

NAPS
Steve: Jason Day – Top 30 finish
Iain: Tony Finau – Top 20 finish

  1. There's a few people with form in regular events that may translate to major form. But will they?

The main pick for me is Reed…1, 2 and 4 finishes in the last three majors on US soil. Maturely dealt with a poor first round at the Open too. Seems under rated in particular in the 'to finish in the top 20' market at 21/10.

A bigger odds choose = Brian Gay…top 12 finishes in 4/8 tournaments but is 250/1 albeit in a bigger event.

Bello might surprise people but will wait for in-play indication of being in-form.

Big disappointment was popping into a high st. bookies at lunchtime who couldn't take ew bets on the machine and the manager of the shop seemed clueless how to take bets advertised in the RP markets section.
