  1. To break 90, you have to reach the distance of the green in regulation. That means no shanking shots. If you shank shots, it's likely a grip problem. To break 80, no double bogies, 11 pars and 7 bogies is what it takes. For me it meant hitting even longer and straighter starting with massive straight drives, massive 15 degree club 2nd shot, reaching or close to reaching par 5's with 2 shots type of hitting. It's doable. 2 pieces of advice…1. Get fitted. 80% of your success is having the right shaft weight, length, flex etc. Unless ur totally lucky on all the complexities of a set of irons, you'll likely be hacking out there. 2. You need to play 2-3 a week and golf can get expensive. So the deal I got where I play was $30 a month membership, I get 2 free range buckets a day, and pay $13 a round with cart at twilight rate time. Usually finish 18 before dark.

  2. The key components of breaking 80's, 70's, 60's is short game. If you are 50 yards away from the flag and pick a 7-iron, pitching wedge then yea, you will not break 70's or 80's. A player who can break 70's all the time will always pick a 60 degree wedge in any situation that is close to the flag as that has a MUUUUCH higher chance of getting close rather than pray&play which 7-iron and pitch is as you cannot know how long carry the ball will have or how much roll it will have.

Practice the HECK out of your WEDGES (not pitching wedge) and practice the HECK out of your putter and you will get down to under 10 handicap just based of that. It does not matter if you make GIR, you can be 50 yards of green at 3 on a par 5, with a good chip and a good put you will still make par.

The time when you need to worry about making GIR is when you have 3-4 handicap.

  3. It begins and ends with the SHORT GAME, I've broken 80 twice in my life and both times my chipping was on fire and I made some lucky putts.

  4. how to break 80: just be fucking good at golf, some people just aren't good enough. It's more than just drawing and fading and certain shots

  5. can you do a video on the diferent ball positions for the diferent clubs say sand wedg to a 9 8 7 6 5 there must be a deferens because of the loft.forgive the bad spelling.you get my drift
