Mizuno challenges 6 golfers to the Swing DNA iron test
Mizuno invited 6 slightly cynical regular golfers (all playing ‘off the rack' irons) for a 15 minute iron custom fitting session at Bearwood Lakes GC. With just three swings Mizuno's Shaft optimizer threw up a theoretically ideal shaft match. Check out what our testers thought. Went to AG to get fitted and swing DNA wasn’t used. The pro suggests
dynamic golf s300 for my 84 mph swing speed. It seems perfect for me – got
the jpx 825s.
Wondering if that shaft would have been swing DNA choice too or whether it
was correct guess by pro??
how does the DNA system measure what club head you should be using? I am
looking to upgrade from my titlesit API to something with little to no
offset. How does the DNA system measure my readiness in terms of upgrading
to a players iron?
I went to AG before Christmas and my DNA was 76, 3, 5, 8, 9. I play with
52’s and I have DG S300 XP’s in them. My apprehension of changing anything
is that I’m working hard in practice and my game is improving and changing
all the time, so I think if I did another DNA now, it ‘could’ be
significantly different! What would you have matched to that DNA above and
is Simon based at Bearwood Lakes? Thank you
Bought a set of 54’s today at the Scottish Golf Show and watched them be
built in front of me on the tour truck!!! It was awesome and Roland who
fitted me is a great guy!!! Cheers Mizuno!!!!
I was just fitted here in Ontario, Canada about 2.5 weeks ago. It was an
awesome experience taking part in the DNA fitting system. I learned (for
the first time) that my arms are a tad bit short than most people my height
(6 foot). As a result, we lengthened my shafts a 1/2 inch followed by
verification on the lie board that the strike was proper and consistent (2
degrees upright). In the end I would up with a new set of MP-54s with KBS
Tour S shafts (bounced between KBS Tours and Dynamic Gold S300). I
was fitted then for a desired grip thereafter. What a fun time! The
irons feel terrific!
Agreed a great piece of kit and an excellent starting point, only problem
is you’ve got to be working with a fitter who knows what he/she’s doing and
not just want your money as quickly as possible. For example my clubs are
4-P, MP54 + MPT4 50, KBS Tour V shafts all spined and the MPT soft stepped.
In over 40 years of playing golf this is the first time I have a set built
by a master fitter to Tour standards nothing in my experience has come
close.

I love the idea of all this (and had a quick go on the DNA at direct golf).
I have one problem…cost. So roughly a set of new mizuno’s is around
£500-550 ish depending on model. How much does getting custom fit at a UK
mizuno facility cost on top of this? Roughly and what do you get for your
money? Also, anyone know the nearest one to Newcastle upon Tyne please?
Working In the golf industry for several years now, I can honestly say that
Mizuno is a class of it’s own. The commitment to excellence and their
passion to perfect a skill and craft really set them apart. The shaft
optimizer is a perfect example of this. The rep openly states that they
have no issues with us using it for other brands ( we still remind people
of what name is on the test clubbed) In my dealings with their sales reps
and executives they have been nothing but helpful, honest and of the
highest integrity.
Hopefully next year, looks like a great day and perfect way to get new
clubs!
if you’ve tried out Mizuno’s Swing DNA Fitting system, please let others
know how it worked out.
Great fitting equipment, backed up by Trackman data, cant go wrong!!!
Nothing Feels Like A Mizuno!!!!
