In this video Rick Shiels PGA golf professional reviews the brand new TaylorMade P790 irons.

Rick heads out to The Worsley Park Marriott Golf and country club to see if the new irons from TaylorMade Golf can improve on what was one of his favourite ever irons sets (the P790 2017).

TaylorMade are well know for their tour athletes including Rory McIlory, Tiger Woods, Jason Day and Dustin Johnson and in recent years have produced golf irons that have won on the PGA Tour and European Tour.

  1. Okay, so I’ve had some information from TaylorMade and they say that the irons HAVEN’T changed in length.

    Apparently the way they measure irons has changed, which is why the new version appears to be longer in length compared to last version.

  5. Best irons and I love them. Played for 30 years and have a hcp of 1 and i have played with all type of club’s during the years. These are my favorites.

  9. I got a bargain in right after covid19 pandemic(March), all golf store in Aust 20% off, for p790 (2019) i paid A$1615 club fitted. Great iron my old set 7 Iron only can carry 133M and with new p790 Carry 142M both hitting with 10 balls. My handicap be4 new set is 9.5, now 6.9. 🙂

  13. Rick I’m seeing conflicting information I just called Taylor made and they said the new tailor-made irons are actually shorter than the old ones but yet on their website at Taylor made they say they’re longer as you say what’s up with that?

  14. just been for a fitting – changing my titleist ap2 irons, looked at titleist t100 and t200, jpx919 forged…. and p790, which blew the others away. feel, forgiveness, strong and long

  15. Where does it all end Rick? We now have the P790Ti at £1,999, 5 – PW. The world of club manufacture has lost the plot. How long before TaylorMade bring out a complete new range of irons and woods?

  22. Hi Rick, nice, honest review. Quick question, do hollow head clubs like the P790 weigh less than traditional forged irons e.g. Callaway Apex, JPX 919, etc? The reason I ask is because being a small chap I don't like heavy club heads.

Great channel Rick I'm a cack handed golfer handicap has went from 3 to 5 past few years in asked for lessons with pros but been refused golf to cut an arm off so here is a challenge for you can you teach me anything to help my game ? I have just ordered set of p790 irons 4 to wedge graphite shafts from Discountgolf.co.uk after your review. Cost £959

  25. I tried these in a golf shop a few months ago, I have never hit so many balls straight and consistent. It was like the machine was broken on repeat. yes, they are $$$ but I will wait and save my pennies and get fitted.
