Learn how to take the golf club away in the backswing. The first move in the backswing we call the golf swing takeaway. For many golfers learning to get a great backswing takeaway feeling can transform the overall look and simplicity of your golf swing.

Learning how to take the club online on the backswing can prevent unnecessary compensations (faults) such as over the top and the opening and closing of the club face.

In this weeks training you will learn how to develop the feel necessary to do it every time.

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website ( I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Tom Ya says:

Danny, you’re the best golf youtuber. Still coming back to tips 2+ years old. Will be bringing this one to the range today.

Always love the energy in the first sentence of each video, although this one is missing the patented “smash that like button” line I’ve grown to enjoy haha.

Randal Yang says:

Thanks for teaching me it gave me a lot of help

Ian Mooney says:

I watch a lot of your videos Danny and love them all. I'm new to Golf and was struggling with the Driver. This left arm lever drill has helped me so much. I practice it every day and now I'm more relaxed on address with the driver and hitting it so much better. The left arm lever swing brings with it a realization about the differences between the shape of an iron swing and a driver swing. Also a lot less thinking on address. Add the right hand and that's the swing. Thanks so much!

chiro cloudhosting says:

I'm chiro cloudhosting again. When I do this with a hybrid 5 iron I get great results only duffing 3 or 4 balls out of thirty

chiro cloudhosting says:

can you just practice hitting the ball with just that initial backswing where the your rotating maybe as little as 15 to 20 degrees, never getting to the point where your're breaking the wrist from the address position?

G M says:

Hi Danny, Greeting from Palm Desert, CA, where we expect 105F only today ! Great tutorial. The thought of keeping the driver face matching-in line with my spine during the takeaway is simple but brilliant. Not sure how much little kink is needed, still adjusting the angle. But it works with every club in the bag. Added with the proper tempo, it opens the way for a great release. Thank you. Gilbert.

David Shaw says:

One word, Brill.

Echobas3 says:

Great advice chap, our 11yo son is into his golf and this really helps him as much as it does me

Frenetic Beast says:

I broke my used 10.5 driver with one straight arm swing.

MrMukesht says:

Great video Danny. It feels so correct. Proof will be if I can do it when I play tomorrow. Thanks again.

GDX 100 says:

I started coming over the top a few years ago. This created all types of swing problems, particularly with the driver. I perused a slew of videos to fix this problem. That just made things worse by adding too many swing thoughts in my head. This video left only one swing thought in my head and was easy to implement since it takes place in the first second of my backswing. Tried it on the range and it worked. Then took it to a tough Pete Dye course to put it to the real test. Shot my best round in years. Missed only one fairway. It also works for irons, hybrids and fairway woods. No more over the top. Best golf drill video I ever watched.

George Fidas says:

I’m currently in a slump but after trying this I feel like I’m close to getting out of it

Gerald Dorer says:

my take away was what was causing me a lot of problems off the tee until i did this drill and it changed everything and i am killing it straight now thanks great teaching

Eric Xu says:

This is really important. I was at US Open 2021 walking with Rory, Phil, DJ and Justin Rose. Everyone do this in their practice swing – for a long time. Camera don't record this but this is pretty much what they do on every shot.

Vijay Patel says:

Love this video. Very very helpful. Great job Danny. Thanks bud.

George Mazuran says:

Good ol Chuckle

Darragh O'Dowd says:

When do you start the hinge wrist in the backswing? When shaft is parallel?
