Question. I bought the regular G400 and I returned it and they sent me the Max. Should I kee0 it?
Better than the G400 by like 0.2%.
What's more forgiving? and better for a higher handicap player?
I also have the G400 LST and just recently bought the G400Max head off of eBay. I wasn’t very satisfied with LST this year. i have the same Ping Tour 65S shaft (cut down to to 44.5 inches) in my LST and will hopefully get some comparison testing soon. My club head speed is about the same 104-108 mph, so your comparison is a great one for me. I play off a 4.6 handicap and can use the more forgiving Max head that’s for sure. Great video , really enjoyed it. Looking forward to comparing my LST to the MAX soon !
Thanks for an interesting H2H Joel, I`m looking to see if either the G400 or the MAX can replacement my G30 SFT (fairway finder). Golfers who have put the MAX into play recently seem to be very pleased with the tighter dispersion, so I am expecting similar results. PS Is it me or are PING making some Sexy looking clubs at the moment????!!!!!!!!
Good review, thanks Joel. Have played G 25 / 30 / G / M2 2017 and now G400 Max. Not as long as the G25 or 30 but certainly the best dispersion of any of the drivers I’ve used in the last few years. Very easy to hit, confidence over the ball. Seems to launch a bit higher, also with the Tour S stock shaft. Would enjoy a review with your launch monitor and some numbers with the different hosel settings
Is there a price difference? That could be an argument as well for choosing one or the other.
Nice video Joel, this Ping line and late introduction of the Max has created a bit of a stir. One would think that the SFT head would’ve been the one to get increased to the 460cc size. Keep up the good work 🏌️

Nice comparison, Joel. If I had a G400, I'd have no issue with Ping rolling out the Max version, since the diffs are so small. I'm looking for a new driver, but have gamed TaylorMade drivers for years and haven't found another brand to replace it. Yet…
I guess 5 cc's volume makes little difference. I wonder whether a better set up, and more centred hits might improve distance on the G400…
I believe the Max driver was designed similar to the Max irons, for the higher handicapper, originally. But they found that it worked for everyone much better than anticipated. They got lucky and it's worked out better. I'm sure they never thought this driver would be anything but one for high HC and slow swingers, but it's ended up being possibly the best for all. You still need to get fit for the driver and the original could still be the best choice and isn't a bad driver. Ping makes great clubs and these are just another example. Nice review too
