Mango Man says:

2:03 that is a great myth to bust. '18 inches past' is way too generic. It probably works fine on shorter putts, but as the putt gets longer, the optimal target moves closer to the hole. The data shows that at 30 feet, even the pros are lagging 'dead-weight' – their misses are centred around the hole and they leave nearly 50% short. We all kick ourselves for leaving a long-range putt in the jaws of the hole. Don't be so hard on yourself! You just rolled a 40-footer to 2 inches. You hit a good putt. Move on.
