  1. Recently had a lesson where we covered this. I am rotating with my hips really fast (after having learnt how to turn them properly) but now I’m holding back with my arms and wrist angles so it’s causing a slice. Need to let those forearms rotate through. One problem with this though: it seems to swap a slice of a straight pull to the left. Quite a strong one. Next thing I guess is to try to get more of an inside out path rather than outside in. Not easy for me!

  2. Whilst I agree with your concept Matt. For me (during the worst part of my swing days). I was very high handed in the delivery and found that if I were to roll the arms over too much (releasing with the forearms), that combined with a high handed delivery (early extension hip thrust) would sometimes mean I would almost miss the ball entirely and do this weird heal shank into the ground.
All I’m getting at is, yes this could be a the missing final fix for some people but I worry there are many people that will think ‘this’ is purely the answer rather than lots of other deep rooted reasons.

  3. Might be a stupid question but is it the same with 3 and 5 wood, great video and I've definitely tried to stop having this problem, but normally happens when I try to swing too fast to smash it down there

  4. Very good lesson here. Good check is on the practice swing. Hold the finish and see what angle you have. If you're open add a little rotation; if closed hold it off a touch.

  5. Aren't most slicers over the top out to in swing path? Closing the club face in this instance will be a massive pulled hook? For me, if I leave my club face open its a dead block because I have a more in to out path.

  6. Great content Matt!….my misses are usually right to left…I think I’m swaying off the ball and trying to catch up with my hands….how about a hooker’s tutorial:)

  7. Thanks -Slice is still a problem for me with driver and other low loft clubs – mid irons 5 wood 4 hybrid no problems !
Release is an often overlooked aspect – thanks for reminding us all !
