Payne just couldn't fly…
I’ve watched every open since 93. The Payne Stewart putt to beat Phil at 18 is still my favorite! It should’ve schooled Phil on smart golf. I’m glad it didn’t! He’s always entertaining. It was a Great show! That open still stands out to me all due to the horrible tragedy shortly thereafter.

USGA it’s time to go back to NBC and Dan Hicks!!!

My first ever memory of golf was watching Payne Stewart winning the US open in 1999. I remember my mom saying “you see the little white circle? He’s is trying to hit the ball in that circle” and he freakin nailed it. To this day is still one of my favorite moments. RIP Payne Stewart, you were taken from us too soon.
