Always appreciate the content boys, thanks and merry Christmas
Thanks for the great video. Beautiful swing. But let's make sure I understand this. Titleist puts a 7 iron shaft on a 6 iron loft and voila! they sell more irons because everybody is using launch monitors to sell their clubs. "WOW! I hit the Titleist 10 yards further". Now he can't hit the set's 4 iron, and doesn't know it's actually a 3 iron that he gave up on years ago. Been playing for 57 years, and never saw anybody buy his game from $1300 clubs that the Marketing Dept forced the engineers to design. Mostly out of the game for 10 years. Retired and come back full time to find the golf industry in a real ugly desperation. Selling this kind of baloney is going to hurt the customer and the industry in the long run.
Very good rundown of each model. You had such great consistency on each one, so it gave a really good indication of each irons performance. BTW, had a fitting in your Columbia, MD store with Kevin. one of the best fittings I've had.
Apologies if this question was answered before. Thomas refers to players who struggle to compress the ball being better suited to game improvement/super game improvement models. Is there a clear way to determine whether or not a player is compressing the ball well consistently?
Can you please do this for callaway? I’d love to see. Thanks 🙂
Excellent comparison… Reason why I’ll be coming to you guys next spring for a custom fit. Thomas you hit the nail on the head.. You fit the player according to his club head speed, ball speed and height with respect to landing angle. Early in 2019 i got custom fit at Club Champion NJ and they screwed up. They fit me for Callaway Apex Pro Forged ‘19 irons. My 7 iron stats. Club Speed: 80 mph, Ball Speed: 108.5 mph, smash 1.36, Launch 18.0 deg, SPin: 4,465, Carry 155.3, Total: 167.8 Height: 75 ft. Attack Angle: -5.0. 12 yds (36 ft.) of runout ! These stats didn’t contain Landing angle, but clearly 36 ft. Of runout will not hold any green and must’ve been less than 45 deg.
These #’s are with Trackman inside which i heard isn’t very good, Trackman works better outdoors. I wound up selling those irons.
I don’t have any irons now ( I haven’t played golf since Sept 2019 due to Shoulder surgery in Dec 2019 and getting infected with COVID-19 in April/May 2020). I Want to get my swing back and speed up before i come in for a custom fit.
Handicap is 2.4 mostly due to strong short game especially putting. Iron striking consistency on 5 & 6 irons could need some forgiveness
Potential Irons: Ping i210, Titleist T-100 or TM P7 MC or TM P770/P790 combo set
Based on my stats what iron would best fit me ? Obviously getting custom fit will narrow down these choices to either 1 or 2 choices, but would be interested in hearing your thoughts
Great comparison A+. Thinking t200/t100s combo.
Love videos like these. Get to see the differences between the iron types and who they align for. Appreciate it, and keep them coming!
Striking difference in sound when you went from the T300 to the CB.
What has happened to Titleist designers. Some of those irons are hideous looking.
I have always liked Titleist irons but never actually owned a set. That T100-s looks mighty fine to me. What i liked about the numbers are that launch angle, dynamic launch, spin rates all followed exactly what you would expect based on static lofts of the clubs and what you achieved with the 620CB (which at 35 degrees is a traditional loft). Absolutely no surprises, that is what you get from Titleist.
Thank you for the great videos Thomas!
