i can do this with my irons and hybrids but struggle with the driver … is it any different

Hi Craig, thank you for this great insight and illustration. I noticed the same concept would apply for longer clubs/drivers, the pros seem to have this "steeper" shoulder angle compared with amateurs, and is just as critical. But is the angle generally shallower for drivers compared with irons? Do you perhaps have any information related to that? Thanks again for the awesome video!

The golfing machine by Homer Kelley is the greatest contribution to golf instruction and the game of golf.
The fact that Craig uses science and evidence is HUGE! Many coaches do not do this, which makes it hard to visualize on what we need to improve on in our swings.
I am older still playing fast pitch softball so much of this pertains to baseball/fast pitch swing surprinly enough many baseball people all the way to big leagues don't get this there are differences

I always think of the golf swing as comparable to swinging an axe into the bottom of a tree trunk. Do you have to think about that axe swing as you are doing it?? No, you don't. Next time you do swing an axe into the base of a tree, think about what DOES happen. Or….just pretend by using your club as the axe. Then do the axe swing!! Notice as you swing the axe back (golf back swing), you come UP in the swing, using your legs and clearing your hips????!!! And then when you swing the axe blade (golf club) into the tree trunk base, you come DOWN (squat, anyone???) and clear your hips as the axe blade buries itself into the tree trunk. Notice also how your head stays BACK (not STILL) behind the tree trunk base (ball)?? You use your LEGS to power the swing!! Both with the axe and also with the golf club!!! That is the essence of the golf swing. Period.
I've never seen the swing explained this way. I'm going to apply these drills to see if they help with my inconsistencies.
Will angles not be different between a wedge and a long iron given purely distance between golfer to ball shallows or depends the angle?

Rotate correctly in the downswing (as opposed to swinging the arms) and watch the shoulder angles change.
An amateur thinks to get leverage he has to sway and swat his arms and so forth. But doesn't realize all the power is generated at the bottom. All the prior moves just allow for a fast, powerful, balanced release. That delivers a square club head to the ball. It's not easy turning and swinging in such a tight space it seems, like a barrel. It goes against what seems commonsense. But we all know a solid, square, center club hit is nirvana to a golfer.

I noticed that you take your trail thumb off the club just before takeaway. Is that something that we need to do?
Boring. Nothing new to see or hear in that instruction.
I spent a few hours on the range the other day. Got frustrated and started for home. Then, I noticed a friend at the members range on the other side. He told me about this video. But more importantly, he showed me how to do those drills. I immediately started hitting the ball better. It was a real eye opener. Thank you!!!
why is it that every time I see this ad….it's a different story of how it came to the market….My advice would be if you're going to lie…pick ONE story and stick to it…
The problem I have isn't the irons… when you get to this in driver, it's not so easy.
