If you're serious about improving your putting game, it's time to ditch the three-ball routine and try something new. In this video, Paul and Brian show you why using one ball is the key to unlocking your potential on the putting green and give you tips on how to make the most of your practice time.
Note: Brian is a special needs golfer recovering from a severe car accident a few years back. Seeing him keen to be involved in this video is awesome. He is an inspiration. Way to go Brian!

I'm 66 with a 5 GHIN. Before every round I spend about 15 minutes on the practice green. I hit balls from the following distance: 3,6,9,12,18,24,30 and 36 feet (easy to measure by walking off the distance). I putt out all misses. My goal is to make several putts at 12 feet or less and 2 putt all the others. I focus on distance control on putts over 12 feet and hitting my target line on putts inside 12 feet.
That makes perfect sense.
I do often do the 3 ball thing, but I have always noticed that my first putt is the one I gage and plan for, and generally it will be closer than the other two.
I like this approach. I wonder why it never occurred to me to do the one ball practice, but then I am grateful to you for pointing out something that should be so obvious.
"On the golf course you never get to hit two putts from the same spot". Clearly has never seen my game
I like the idea of making it a 9 hole game, going to try that next time. Thanks!
I think this is great, my son, a jr golfer would have trouble finding 9 holes on the practice green, too many fellow golfers on the green before tournament
Thank you, glad Brian made the next one, we all need positive reinforcement – question, would you suggest BEFORE GOING AT the nine holes you first with A COUPLE BALLS putt toward the edge of the green – distance putt – to get the feel for lagging and green speed? Take care
I'm in, and will also keep my 5ft drill.
You should teach Mickelson. He's not aware.
