My review of the new Ping G430 Fairway Wood. This 3 wood is one of the easiest and forgiving fairway wood / golf club you can hit! I give you the run down of the looks, feel and performance of both models……G430 Max & G430 SFT.

"The sound…..!" I do agree the sound makes an important decision when purchasing any new club, but to game one based purely on sound is ridiculous. I am a Ping-only golfer, and yes, over the years they have been good and "bad" – but the fact remains, "If the club makes my ball fly long, high and far, I'll get use to the sound when I see my scorecard! Period!

@northcarter6670 says:

Is it worth upgrading from the G425? Are there any real advantages for a 10 handicap?

@EannMcCullough says:

I appreciate that it is instructive to see how a head performs with off center strikes. But I don’t know how you can do an entire club review and not show at least one shot that was not a toe. The ball impacts you showed were all what I’d consider – below average – strike.

Recently added the Srixon ZX MK11 3 wood to my bag after gaming Pings for years. Easy to hit off the deck and does whatever you ask it to do!

@stevejones1563 says:

Would luv a comparison with the clevland Halo ,look identical but clevland has the rails and do we need to mention price? Oh great sound

@FenwayJoe7129 says:

I love the Ping Woods Michael.. I recently added a G 430 Max in the 3 Wood. Love the feel and performance. I am a senior golfer . I love the new Ping G 430 max 3 wood. At least for me there's a big difference in feel from the 425 to the 430. Ping did a tremendous job with both series. I own the 5,7 and 9 Woods in the G 425 series as well as a few of the 425 hybrids. Love them. Nice review Michael !!!!!

@PaulHartl-i4t says:

I hit my first ever ping clubs yesterday and i am a convert. I bought a 430 Max driver and the Max 3 metal. I have only taken up golf again in the last 2 months after about a 10 year layoff. Prior to that i only carried driver and then hybrids so yesterday was the first time i have hit a 3 metal in around 15 years. First shot bombed it dead straight 230 metre carry and total distance of 245 metres. Thought it was a fluke, hit one more, it carried 234 metres and ran out to 250 metres overall., dead straight again. Bought it there and then. No more needs to be said.

@davidgroom9667 says:

Not sure you get a genuine idea of sound in a hitting bay

@NovaScene says:

430 euro a pop with a stock shaft is an L

@cameronloveless1751 says:

So PING fixed the sound in the G430 driver, but clearly left fixing the sound in the fairway woods until the next model. They sound horrible

@hawkey100 says:

I have the new G430 9wood and it doesn't sound that loud

@matthewsmith1607 says:

y is ur video sped up?

@wrath646 says:

let me guess, 3 yards further than the previous gen?

@GOLFADDICT65 says:

would love to see a Taylormade Stealth 2 HD fairway wood review… 3 or 5 woods… thx…great review as always…cheers from Canada

@stevedietrich8936 says:

Mike, have you taken that SFT 16 degree head and put it in the F- setting? You would point the face a little further to the right, and you would get the loft down to 15 and cut some spin in the process. It might give you better results and would almost certainly look better to your eye.

@BLKMeSa says:

IMO, the G430 drivers and hybrids are the winners for PING this year. The fairway woods sound awful and hollow. They perform OK, but not well enough for me to switch. The hybrids are incredible. Very solid and dense sounding, easy to launch, and gave me a few yards extra carry over my G410s.

@Steve-jq4st says:

I think the whole sound thing with Ping woods is a beat up. Hitting a great shot where you want it is the aim. I can’t even remember what Ping clubs sound like and I’ve got a stack of different models from G400 on.

@leegibbons2521 says:

That crown looks awful,like elephant man’s forehead,# lumpy. Ping WTF

@adamw9764 says:

I have never been able to hit fairway woods (even when I was a +1 back in HS/College days). I tried every brand I could get my hands on, but never had confidence in hitting one until I tried the Ping G425 LST 3 wood….that thing is a monster. Its super easy to hit, great flight and distance and all the confidence I ever need in a fairway wood. I don't need to replace it anytime soon, but the G430's have been getting great reviews so I might give one a shot in a 3 wood or a 5 wood.

I also loved the G425 hybrid (3H), only hybrids I ever hit that didnt tail a bit left). I want to give the G430 hybrids a swing as well. Another great video, Michael!

@brianmartin83 says:

Great review as always Mike, just bought the 3max fairway and 3 hybrid yesterday, absolutely love them, so consistent

@shanewilliams1216 says:

Adams made the easiest fairway woods to hit for over 30 years, the Tight Lies were the best ever, and I play a Sweet 16 tight lies that is about 8 years old!!! It will never come out of my bag!!!

@TXchadTX says:

It’s a love or hate thing with PING. I think the last five years they’ve been making superb stuff

@stephendibari5010 says:

I sold my sim max 3 & 5 woods because they were too deep faced and too inconsistent off the turf.
Got Rouge ST MAX 3 & 5 woods and they’re a night and day difference. Super easy off the turf. Can’t hit them fat. Ping would be my 2nd option but even these G430 sounds like a cannon going off

@mattneedham3595 says:

Tried this the new stealth and the Paradym 3 woods
The ping was too high and spinny for me. And the noise still not great 🙈

@whocares3986 says:

Am I the only one that hates shallow fairway woods? For me the deeper faced the better.

@MrLittlejonboy says:

Fitted for a 3SFT with Oban shaft yesterday. All I can say is laser beam fairway finder

@jacobmccain8082 says:

Will definitely consider the G430 for 7w. I currently have the G425 and it's the best fairway I've ever hit but it sounds awful. Probably going into Stealth 2 TI in 5w if I can actually spin it a touch more than my old SIM 2.

@garygill1211 says:

I tried the ping fairway woods, and could not get past the sound! It sounded like a beer can attached to a broom stick! Bought a Taylor made stealth 2.
