I’m attempting to go from 10 handicap to scratch golfer in the space of a year. If I’m going to have any chance at all, my swing needs (a lot of) work. To that end I’ve enlisted Anders Mankert, voted the #1 golf coach in the UK, to help me on my journey. In this video I present a lightly edited version of my first lesson with Anders, in which we assess my current swing and identify the most pressing areas to work on.

I quit my job to see if I can become a scratch golfer in one year. Is it possible to go from a 10.2 to a 0.0 in 365 days of golfing full-time?
Follow my journey as I try to understand what drives sustainable improvement in golf, how quickly that improvement can come, and if this mad endeavour is even feasible.
Welcome to my Golf Life Crisis.

Brilliant, how the heck do you spot those faults? and the fixes are genious!!
Great video. Great coach. Thanks you taught me a lot.
Amazing that I could stumble across this video at the exact point in time when this is what I’m struggling with. Finally I started striking the ball well with a solid swing path, but I haven’t been able to consistently square the club face at impact. I cannot wait to try this grip adjustment and left arm tuck.
What a professional
great video, what I started to do towards the end of the season, (don't know exactly why) was to slightly close the face of all clubs, inkl.Driver, with my left hand then with the right hand turn the clubface back square again, totally changed my game, mega ball flight and distance too (but this just works for me, thought i'd share though)
I’ve watched several ,lessons, with Anders and really enjoy his enthusiasm and what looks like real interest in getting players better. Now there’s a coach that needs to have his own YouTube channel. Great to see
Good luck on your journey! Good idea getting tons of lessons to get there. Only tip I'll give you is to secretly not worry about getting there in a year. The last thing you need is to get injured or be disappointed if it doesn't happen. Just take it as it comes, work smart, work hard, and if you get there, great. If you don't but you're still healthy, also great. If you never get there? Who cares! You can count on me never to judge you or anyone on their golf skill. Totally meaningless! But seriously, the most important thing is that you try to enjoy the journey best you can, and that you stay healthy! The wrist, lower back, shoulder… these things can get banged up pretty bad in this game, especially with a lot of volume in a short amount of time like a year, so try to pace yourself along the way. Cheers and best of luck to you!
Brilliant. Thank you for sharing. I share a lot of the same issues
Love this. I have been playing golf for years and have spent many hours with teaching Pros and they never spent time with basic grip, stance and postions like you address. I see my flaws already and will continue to watch and learn. Thank you.
Initial reaction, this instructor will certainly improve your swing and likely reduce your handicap index. Getting to scratch will be on you.
Ten handicap to scratch in one year, no way.
I actually got fitted for new grips and ended getting larger grips. Also started gripping harder at setup and finally have consistent ball compression,
Great video 😊
Your golf swing is not the main determinant of your handicap – chipping and putting is. Nearly everyone can get their game to the point where you are down around the green in regulation but getting in the hole from there is the key.
Wow this is the exact same problems I’m experiencing in my golf swing! Thank you so much for sharing this lesson! Subscriber all the way from North Carolina,USA
Took some of this to the range today – first fingers tight grip, left bicep firm on pec, no straightening of trail leg – all faults I have. My coach was impressed with the results – even if it felt a bit stiff at first. Thanks for the video!
What a master class from this guy Anders. Excellent advice. I’m French but if I go to the UK for sure I will plan a session with him !
Excellent video by the way. The process is very interesting.
