This is one of the best golf swing tips for consistency and power – taught to us by ball striking legend, Ben Hogan. Through this very simple golf swing tip, you will hit more fairways, pure your irons, and hit the ball farther than ever before.

Ben Hogan gave us this awesome golf tip in his book – Ben Hogan's 5 Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf. He talks about the importance of the position of the arms and elbows in the setup. Most golfers know to KEEP THE ARMS STRAIGHT, but did you know that the position of your elbows is equally as critical?

If your elbows are not in the proper position, your golf swing will demonstrate the following issues:
1. Golf Swing OFF-PLANE
2. BREAKDOWN of the Arms during the golf swing
3. INCONSISTENT Contact with the golf ball
4. POWER LOSS in the golf swing
5. ACCURACY PROBLEMS with your golf shots

and more……

This golf swing tip is so simple and important that it affects your entire swing – get set like this tip and you'll eliminate swing issues and compensations that cause your swing to fail.

I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

Coupled with your shoulder pointing to the ball tip, this works great. thankssss Tom!

@user-jo4id3uj2s says:

Tom. Mr. Natural. The Hogan arms don't feel natural. More like over cooked GMO Okra. They're messing with my grip.

@tripacern8131d says:

Implemented yesterday and immediately cured my poor/inconsistent contact. THANKS!!!!!!!!

@bicklesby1 says:

Tim Clark always did this well

@user-jo4id3uj2s says:

I always skipped this part of the book because it felt so awkward. Wrong. Now, straight arms turn shoulder 45 hips 45 = back 90 facing target. Oh my perfect ball strike. Geez Tom are you always right.

@mAx87iStar says:

Tom you have a more recent vid which you say the opposite about the lead elbow. Pointing it to target not pits out. So which is it ????????

@vichajanviriya7908 says:

Show or lesson or both.

@HaraldLoud says:

The best part of this video, other than Ben Hogan's stylish threads, is the samurai sword stuck in the ground in the background. ⚔

@truthsearch4852 says:

Your body is reversed when you swing back. Cause you didn't understand the Hogan arm's secret fully. I can teach you it well.

@grillbuster1519 says:

For your “hands forward” tip where you seem to tilt the club at the end of your setup. Is this a hogan move? Or is this to simplify and turn the torso first instead of the shoulders first? All for simplicity, just trying to understand. Crispy KFC.

@maureenshaw7215 says:

You make it look so easy … power swing.

@adamhazelwood5282 says:

This is a much maligned tip becuaese even Hogan stopped doing this after his accident. All the same it works..I find it helps me quiet my right arm, feels effortless.

@spenostreamer says:

Bit of Dalton Mc Crarey going on in the attire there Tom

@sm00v00 says:

you should be on tour .young man!!!

@Correy63 says:

Does this apply to driver/woods as well?

@user-en3hp7rd7m says:

Hogan arms, hogan arms, … very nice !! (Thanks a lot !)

@DIRTY530BMXRACING says:

Serious game changer. Only golf you tuber I’ve been able to learn anything from. Kept it simple, Thanks man!

@ricsalsa says:

i heard from a pro that the lead elbow should be turn and point the target !!??? so many thing that is different from a pro to another…. golf is so hard:????

@MichaelEnright-gk6yc says:

The simplest lesson so the easiest to remember less is more no chance of confusion .I tell all new golfers that saguto is the best.

@Crapzzzz says:

I have tried the Ben Hogan arms the last two practice rounds on the course. I don’t like practicing on the range. This has straightened my shots from driver to wedge and added more effortless power. It’s almost like cheating. Big test will be taking it to competition day. Thanks Tom!!!

@sharky9493 says:

Oh yeah, buy a samurai sword, and hack you opponents arms off and WIN…Good????????tip, my friend!

@devolution1310 says:

So tell me Tom, how is one supposed to do this without building up a bunch of tension in the arms?

@neilstephens4823 says:

Thanks Tom. I tried this, it was easy to implement and worked really well. I really enjoyed my round as I was flushing irons better than I have for years, and wasn't worrying about dodgy strikes. Gaining distance and going over the back of greens was a lovely problem to have!

@user-ks3wi2gs9k says:

Tom ! You did a good job ! I appreciate it so much ! Thanks !

@stevenklinkhamer9069 says:

Guess what Tom. After watching this for about the 50,000th time it's starting to sink in. It's getting through that concrete ring around the cranium. It eventually gets through, that this is another good tip. There is indeed hope for me. KFC with mashed potatoes & gravy? Making me hungry again.

@lukefaulkner1942 says:

I discovered the Hogan arms by accident in my garage whilst playing around with my inconsistent iron swing.. I thought "man.. wait until people hear about this new technique I invented" hahaha… I was hitting it so well I thought I'd research it a bit and whaddayaknow.. I discover this.. 🙂 Can't wait to try it on the course this weekend.. I've never been told this in any of my lessons.. I guess the Pro wants me to keep coming back! 🙂

@jeffwheeler1893 says:

Crisp shots every time but it feels so awkward doing it

@chrisachille4385 says:

This lesson and pure impact lesson is all I work on when I practice. Really will improve your ball striking consistency.
