DP World Tour coach Liam Robinson walked into the studio with one big problem… his irons just didn’t feel right.
In this episode, we put his entire iron setup under the microscope to uncover what’s really going on.
From loft and lie diagnostics to swing weight testing, we go deep into the numbers to figure out why a world-class coach wasn’t connecting with his clubs. Was it the build? The balance? The spec drift? Or something hiding beneath the surface?
Watch as we:
✔️ Break down Liam’s current iron specs
✔️ Analyse strike patterns and delivery
✔️ Identify subtle issues affecting feel and performance
✔️ Tweak swingweight, loft, and lie to dial in his ideal setup
✔️ Transform a mismatched set into a properly tuned tool for elite play
If you’re into club fitting, equipment optimisation, golf performance, or just love seeing elite-level knowledge in action, this one’s packed with insights.
And this is just the beginning…
👉 NEXT EPISODE: We take a deep dive into Liam’s DRIVER — expect speed, shaft testing, and some surprising results. Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss it.

how come this guy is making all golf channels
Ross, is there any sort of ratio you use for picking swing weight for woods/driver based on a player's irons? I recently replaced my first iron set that was probably D4 or higher with a set around D0-D1 and love them. Meanwhile, my driver is D2.5 per my local pro shop. When playing baseball, I always preferred shorter and lighter bats. Would taking a half-inch off be your suggestion for lowering the swing weight?
Here me swinging shit off the shelf absolutely clueless about lies and lofts and weights
I just really appreciate that you don’t categorize a player based on the conventions of fitting. Every player is different, every swing is different, and every set of eyes sees the club differently. That is why fitting is so tough but you have created a special experience. Good for you!
Congratulations on 50k, you deserve it!
great watch
Love these vids, so interesting…..excellent content. 👍
The difference between professional and amateur ability to feedback your thoughts, feelings and opinions.
Hey Ross, great video again! So much knowledge, thanks for sharing! What's your take on MOI matching?
Lead/tungsten tape on the back of Blueprint S is sacrilege, that club is so pretty it counts as golfing porn. But if it works…
Love Liam's honesty, world class coach admitting he hasn't a clue why his clubs feel wrong
Super interesting video on the importance of feeling the club and the tweaks that need making to get them…..
Brilliant content Ross… Cheers for the tinkering with me the other week… It's paying dividends 🙏🏻❤️
This guy has so much club speed but looks controled as well , impressive. Another great fitting Ross , your knowledge is second to none .
fitter trick
store up all the old toe weights from older ping heads so when you get this scenarios you can swap the 7s or whatever's in them with some 10/11/12gs depending what you need.
Great to get into the important details. Don't think I've ever seen Liam miss a shot lol
2 of my favourite experts in the same place !!
I would be curious what his club path and FTP numbers were for his light setup. The ball flight makes it look like he was closer to neutral with a closed face to path. Having that extra weight maybe makes him feel like he can shallow and turn, hence why he likes more toe down aesthetics.
Ross, im up in the air on a shaft for me. I hit it fairly low and not much spin on my 7 iron. I tried several shafts the awt red in stiff , px red 6.0 , mmt 85, in the titleist t150. I swing 85/86 on 7 iron with 4/5 degrees down. Fairly quick transition. Still struggle hitting higher shots with some more spin. I am not flicky with the hands so just pull through it and down through shot. A shaft you suggest ? I hit the 7 iron 165 typically. Wanting new heads and shafts so wanting your advice.
Finally a fitting for the average swing speed golfer 🎉
Hell yea these are gonna be some great videos! Always love your fitting videos from the knowledge to the honesty
Ross and Liam in the same video? Yes please
Wizard at work
Looked like some of your best work!
I see you’ve cracked 50K subscribers. 🎉👏 Well deserved. (P.s. I inadvertently attached my comment as a reply to sinbadsdad d’oh.)
Great vid Ross, It is just special seeing and hearing Liam hit 7 irons, finishing off with the classic nah, that's just money right there. Cant wait to see the driver vid!
Great example how a club can be wrong and yet very close. Question: Do you ever find a person who needs heavy swingweights to match up with lightweight graphite irons?
as always great stuff
It’s such a shame there are so many “professionals” that pretend to do club-fitting but have no idea compared to you. The PGA needs to upgrade their teaching on this. You could run it for them.
Well done. Great video
