9 wood or 7 wood. I only have room for one. Do you choose the 9 because of shorter shaft?
I play a ping G425, 5, 7 and have added a 9 wood as well. I get good distance with all but love the 7 and 9. Have always found the fairways weeds easier to hot and control than the Hybrids. Any club that you can easily hit over 200mm yards with ease get my vote.
Recently put a 7 wood in the back to replace my driving iron. Don’t think I would go down to a 9 wood, but that 7 wood is magical
Is the new Ping 9 wood your favorite brand?
Personally, who cares what club you use to get to the hole. If I use driver, 9 wood and two putts its a par. If you use driver, 5 iron and two putts it a par. The score card doesn't care what u use to get it. 3 hcp or 15 hcp it's what u need to get the job done.
this is a very interesting vid..ive used a very cheap 9 wood for years and found it very good, i am thinking of getting a better one….thankyou.
I absolutely love the 9 Wood. I play several woods. 4, 5, 7, 9 and 11 Woods. I would not play without a 9 Wood .
I was hoping to keep this a secret and let players keep thinking they actually are better with a 4 or 3 iron. And if you are “working” your 4 and 3 irons into pins from 200 plus, you are likely getting paid to play.
It’s about personal preference, i carry a soft 3 wood 16.5 and a 7 wood, down1.5 degrees, both are fantastic of decent lies but fly high. Also carry 3 and 5 hybrid, both are great out of the semi as well as fairway, and fly the ball with a more penetrating flight. The 7 wood and 3 hybrid are about same distance, but play differently, i like the choice.
Only 90%? Another channel featured some clubs which he said 99% of golfers should use.
I had a 9 wood in the bag when my shanking was at it's worst, useful club.
I’ve got that same club. I really like it but found it was too close to my 7w. Have dialed it up. I also have a Ping 5w, 3w and driver!
The leading edge of that thing is so much further forward than the top of the crown – looks like there is no way to hit that well. Hate. Get it away from me.
I love my 9 wood..Hit it 190-195..Ball gets up there and lands softly..
I'm in the 5 hybrid team. Mentally I find a larger head not confidence inspiring at all, especially in first cut or rough. For the fairways I can choose between my 5h and 5w. For that chip shot I shamelessly carry a Cleveland Smart Sole C that is really dependable for up & downs
I think you may need to start with club manufacturers. Not that many 7 and 9 wood options out there today. And there are extremely few for lefties.
Lol, I have this Ping ordered to replace my current 9W. Love it. Looks and plays better than a hybrid and is much hotter than a 4 iron. For those who struggle with fairways, try one with a shorter shaft at a higher swing weight. That can really help with accuracy and consistency. My irons swing weight at D9. My fairways are E3.
I play a nine wood and it works well. As a senior golfer, I’m 78, I need the extra help. The only downside is my playing partner’s commentary “Oh, your playing your pitching wood”! Results speak for themselves!
9 woods are magic wands. There are so many ways one can use them. People need to get over the old news stigma and grab one!
I have had one in my bag a few years (Ping G410} At that time the comments were "That's a Old mans Club" and "That's a Ladies club" but when they saw what could be done with it the comment changed.
I've thought about the 9W. I'm a big fan of 7W, however with my p790, it would replace my 5 iron which I just love
