I put the brand new Titleist GT3 Driver up against the TSR3 Driver in a head to head battle to see if the new golf driver is an improvement over the previous model. GT3 has launched alongside two other models, GT2 & GT4.

Good review, thanks. I went with Taylor Stealth 2 year ago, and after 6 months ditched it and went back to Titleist 913, yes now 11 years old. I have now ordered a GT3 due to significant gains in all areas, but understand why TSR users are not convinced due to marginal gains. The GT range is fantastic, and interestingly for me, I have gone back to a regular shaft after playing stiff for 45 years. The extra flex gave me 3-4mph club head speed with no adverse dispersion.

If it's for free upgrade, if not pass

I did a test fitting last week with the GT2 against my TSR2. Dropped spin, increased distance and similar to you Michael, tightened up dispersion significantly. The only thing putting me off changing is the huge price. My TSR with a Tour AD shaft was NZ$1200, the GT with the same shaft will set me back $1700 – that's a whopping increase! So the TSR will stay in my bag.

I currently have a TSR…
From what I have seen, there is a minimal difference between these two clubs. Why would anyone spend $500+ for basically the same performance? Makes zero sense…other than vanity.

@TheShaming says:

This just shows that newer drivers doesn’t automatically mean better. I’ve tried so many drivers out, and I still go back to the original sim. Hit more fairways and it goes further than any other driver I’ve hit.

@MikeTimbers says:

few owners of the TSR range are going to switch to the GT but how much difference is there for a 917 owner, a TS owner or a TSi owner? Those are the people more likely to upgrade but there's simply no comparisons being made.

It will be much better than r7 , don't think about age as limiting, I drive my Darkspeed LS 300 and I'm 64 , averaged 250 when I was 35

Good video….just in time also!

I am getting fitted for the GT series of drivers this coming Friday. I currently use the TaylorMade R7 Quad and hit it well for my age (58). I average right at 250 yards off the tee. It will be an interesting fitting. I am curious how much new technology will help or am I so used to my R7, I won't see much change.

@williebrown1974 says:

I think I'm done spending money on equipment. My 10 year old Mizuno irons still compete with my new ones and my Cobra Radspeed is dirt cheap and still competing with drivers 3x more expensive. Picking the right ball has made more difference than my clubs. Everyone is different though and you just have to realize Jordan was Jordan and it had little to do with his shoes.

So it’s a worse driver
