One wouldn’t need complicated instructions on how to throw your golf club over-hand or under-hand with both hands at a target in front of you. So just ignore that there is a ball on the ground and pretend you are throwing your club at a target ahead of you – and just don’t let go of the club. Forget all this release, extension, turning, pivoting, weight shifting nonsense.

Watched a tip by Sam Snead, he simply raised the club up hands directly in front of nose and gently turned causing an effortless loop- amazing!
It works for me. When I slow down it goes further and straighter.
How old are you Phil?
Just stay on line and hit the ball square ..slow down to do this especially the backswing and pause at the top and deliver force at the lag top your club at the 9 o’clock position

For the slower swings, I use Annika Sorenstam's driver swing thought, "Swing 60%". I think about having "nice, soft hands" to feel the club head weight, with a golf hold (grip) of 2-3 on a scale of 10!
