Review: Nick Taylor’s Stack & Tilt Driver Performance Video (2026 Perspective)

Nick Taylor, an authorised Stack & Tilt and GOLFTEC instructor, presents a focused lesson on improving driver performance using the Stack & Tilt golf swing. The video addresses a common frustration among golfers—why the driver often feels harder to control than irons when using this method—and offers a practical fix aimed at helping players gain consistency and distance.

Clarity and Instruction Quality

One of the strengths of the video is its clear explanation of the underlying problem. Many Stack & Tilt players maintain weight forward and a downward strike, which works well for irons but can reduce launch and distance with the driver. Taylor explains this in straightforward terms and demonstrates how small setup or swing adjustments can improve strike conditions.

Compared with many instructional videos even in 2026, this teaching style remains effective because it focuses on a single problem and solution rather than overwhelming viewers with multiple swing thoughts.

Relevance in 2026: How It Compares

Golf instruction has evolved significantly in recent years, especially in three areas:

  1. Data-Driven Coaching
    By 2026, many golfers expect lessons to include launch-monitor numbers (club path, attack angle, spin rate). Taylor’s lesson is more concept-driven than data-heavy. This makes it accessible to recreational golfers but slightly less analytical compared with modern coaching that integrates tools like TrackMan or GCQuad in nearly every lesson.

  2. AI and Video Analysis
    Newer platforms now offer AI-assisted swing analysis and automatic feedback. Taylor’s teaching relies on traditional demonstration and explanation, which some golfers still prefer, but it may feel less interactive than fully integrated AI-feedback lessons that are becoming common in online coaching.

  3. Online Coaching Platforms
    The promotion of lessons through the Skillest app aligns well with 2026 trends. Remote coaching, personalized feedback, and asynchronous lesson delivery are now standard, so Taylor’s availability online keeps his teaching approach current and competitive.

Strengths

  • Clear, practical explanation of a specific driver issue

  • Simple adjustments that golfers can test immediately

  • Well suited to players already using Stack & Tilt

  • Online lesson availability matches modern learning preferences

Limitations

  • Less emphasis on measurable performance data than many modern lessons

  • Best suited to golfers already committed to Stack & Tilt rather than those exploring multiple swing philosophies

  • Some viewers may want deeper technical breakdowns or slow-motion analysis, which has become common in newer instructional content

Overall Verdict

Nick Taylor’s lesson remains highly useful for golfers who follow Stack & Tilt and struggle with the driver. Even in 2026, the fundamentals he teaches are sound, and the focused, easy-to-apply advice is a major advantage. However, compared with the most cutting-edge instruction today—where launch-monitor data, AI feedback, and highly personalized digital coaching are the norm—the presentation feels slightly traditional in format.

Rating (2026 context):

  • Instruction clarity: 9/10

  • Modern use of technology: 7/10

  • Practical usefulness for Stack & Tilt golfers: 9/10

  • Overall value: 8/10

How sit his stack and tilt ? Weight back, just a hip bump?

@billybones6137 says:

I would take that first 'bad shot' every time lol.

@40beretta1 says:

Most handicap golfers, with the weight out front… will block the drive or a heel shot

@robs_golf says:

how do you keep your lead knee from collapsing during loading?

@MSDOGS1976 says:

Good info. I will try this. S&T has helped me greatly with my irons and hybrids but I’ve had to use a more traditional setup and swing with my driver. And i hit it well this way but could use more distance. If this can get me just 10 more yards I’ll be happy. Us geezers need every yard we can get. 😅

@rexxengineering8333 says:

Sounds like the answer is not to use stack and tilt for the driver. Keeping the weight forward throughout the swing inherently leads to a downward attack. That’s the whole benefit of the method. For driver, the weight can’t be forward the whole swing.

@fondu321 says:

I having a hard time with the backswing when my hips are bumped out at address. For some reason the iron back swing's first move with the legs and hips seems very natural but when I bump the hips at address it feels quite odd.

@sambascombe440 says:

Hi Nick

I have the problem you mention I hit my driver very low and slice

@avrilbonner7751 says:

Hi Nick, Do we need to hip bump? Can't we start with more weight on front foot, and flex left knee towards front foot, same for irons?😢 Otherwise, I am obviously doing this wrong with the driver! Thanks.

@stephenwellings4085 says:

Hi nick I started the st last year but now every now and then I will shank the ball I play off 10.7 but want to try and get me handicap down this year Stephen wellings

@dtorres6956 says:

Best advice I’ve had head back at impact. Spent time at range and it worked flawlessly. 🙂 Thanks for the help.

@scottbartkowski4657 says:

Been doing stack and tilt for a few months and struggling with the driver. Best video I’ve seen about it. Made all the difference. Thank you!

@garyhemry9730 says:

are you still 60-40% with your weight?

@Dirtdick24 says:

I’ve been using stack and tilt with my irons and hitting them very well, but with driver it doesn’t work the same for me please help.

@DCVersace says:

If I'm hitting it too high does that mean that I'm staying back for too long or am I not getting my hips forward enough?

@jameslearmonth2043 says:

The time you give us to understand the data is far too short. We’re trying to listen to what you’re saying and read the data at the same time. You need to simplify this.

@davec.6013 says:

I just came back to stack and tilt…it just works! Outstanding instructions. Q: Please explain if you are using both arms equally in strength and force, or more right arm and hand pushing or more left arm pulling? (On downswing)

@LuisS1k_ says:

So glad stack and tilt is a thing. Looks funny how I set up at the tee. People always try to fix my driver swing but yet always drive less than I do. I’m usually 280y+. Longest drive has been 315y

@showmemomaineiac32 says:

Glad I found this!! Twice today, driver off the deck went farther than tee shot. This is #1 suspect with fault tree for driver!

@lesmoore7613 says:

and of course the 10 mph increase in club head speed didn't hurt…..

@miltonvelez1131 says:

I’ve just adapted the ST swing and the difference with my irons has been dramatic. I now find myself hitting draws and pulls with my irons but no more slices. With my driver it has been terrible and erratic. I will keep working at it.
