It's one of the most basic golf swing keys and it's so simple that, when you learn how to move your elbow like in this video, your ball striking improves dramatically. I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

Joined your golf school this week and the quality of this instruction demonstrates exactly why I joined. Soooo looking forward to getting out on the course to test out the difference your instruction has made to my game, because man I have never experienced such consistent straight line ball striking at the range. But may have to get a video to you on my driver, which does not have the consistency!

@Costigs01 says:

That explanation of the trail arm really resonated with me and today i felt compression and direction control like never before! I once had one great driving range session where it felt just as good but i had no understanding of why and so i couldnt replicate it. This feeling has had me getting orgasmic compression. Im going to share the video with my dad because he suffers from casting but first im going to wager him £50 when we play on thursday before i tell him ????
This feeling even works with wedges ???? and the distance and direction control i feel is amazing! I could kiss you!
Now if only i could stop 3 putting ????

Great Advice tips

@janestewart412 says:

Perfect Tom, this is so easy and has stopped me occasionally casting too. I had too much wide turn and couldn’t find my way back down. So much more crispy, powerful and consistent just like you promised! Thank you, supporter from Australia. ????????

@jedsantos2218 says:

Sir does this apply to a Driver? Are there any changes/adjustments to be made?

@aratipramod7538 says:

Does this tucking in help with Driver swing as well?

@LikeCheckSaver says:

I still can’t hit good contact even when my elbow is tucked in.

@555atU says:

Ahhh so this must be why Ben Hogan said he wishes he had 3 right hands.

@quantumpotential7639 says:

It's good to see legendary Tom Weiskoph's son, Tom Jr, teaching the game so doggone well to so many people. Classic teaching from the lineage of greatness. ????

@deniss.3458 says:

Many pros and amateurs alike are quite capable of getting the trail elbow down and under, like skipping a stone, without having to glue their upper arms to their body. Look at Nicklaus, he didn't concern himself with that nonsense because he knew he could crash down with more power while still getting the elbow in the proper position, and we amateurs can do it too without pressing our upper arms to body.

@gingerbearben says:

Thank you! After years of a struggling with an erratic swing I tried this on the range yesterday and, after a duff few shots to get the rust off, found my swing being much more consistent. One huge plus is the opportunity for feedback is simplified massively, making necessary adjustments much more straightforward and clearer because so many of the variables in my old swing are eliminated. Distance improved too, and slices non-existent in 100 shots. Even got some beautiful baby draws by the end of the session. Excited to put this into practice some more. And now also realise why my old man treasured his Ben Hogan tutorial books so much, time to get them off the shelf!

Hi Tom! What club are you using and what launch monitor are you using?

Thanks!

@Danburkett1 says:

Great video! What do you use to show the ball flight path, carry etc?

@justincrosby9992 says:

I will say learning about tucking the trail elbow has improved my drives immensely. Couldnt figure out my slice. My slice was really bad. It took of from the tee and I immediately was on a different fairway. Then i saw some videos about Hogans elbow and then stumbled upon this video. Went to the range the next day and still sliced a bit, but noticed improvement and more distance. Then after 3 days i hit my longest ball straight down the fairway 270 yards. I was like holy shit. This is definitely the "holy grail" of a hitting a golf ball.

@superfast3444 says:

Well done sir !

@russquick7899 says:

Tom- I could watch this move for days till I get it. Appreciate you sending it to me. Unfortunately I just lost my wife of 68 yrs and am dedicating my life to regaining my game and your lessons are terrific and help me a lot. Many thanks. Stay safe-Russ

@garciakcfan says:

I started trying this the past couple weeks unfortunately during rounds and whiffed in front of my friends. Stuck with it this past weekend and crushed the ball a few times. It is a weird feeling and will definitely work on it at the range but boy oh boy I really think this is a game changer if i can get some kind of consistency.

@scottydog62 says:

Thank you Tom!

@user-lk9dy4rd8z says:

Love this! 2 questions: is it ok to use if you're not a stack and tilter? and do you use it on pitches and/or chips?

@thirtina1 says:

Its true… keep left arm straight and the other arm tucked. Chin to the shoulder, eye on the ball.

@richp4449 says:

Tucking in the elbow on the backswing kills power…keeping it extended with the forearm at a 90 degree angle and then bringing the elbow straight down, into the rib cage on the downswing, creates a ton of hand speed and power. I love your golf videos but this one is misleading.

@mrcardnash says:

The best instructor out there!!!! Don't understand why he doesn't have million subscribers yet. I am spreading the word. Thank you Tom!!

@Hobo_Mojo says:

NEW GOLFERS: This is the best tip you will get. Tucking my right arm in literally knocked 15 strokes of my game. It will take you from the land of Bud Light to the land of Milk and Honey!
