One thing no-one ever mentions when talking about the stiff-wrist chipping method. You lose feel. For me especially around the greens the most important aspect is feel. Feel is what helps judge distance. I fully understand your logic for this coaching, and I know you have already acknowledged this, but it's not for everyone and with respect, I wouldn't be happy with the results you got. I'd want to be within 3 feet and occasionally in the hole from that distance! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a brilliant golfer. I'd probably be off around 10 if I played regularly, but chipping is by far the strongest part of my game. Pitching? well that's a different matter ????

I thing one of the biggest problems a high handicapper has is making sure that you get the ball to the hole. Any suggestions like putting your target past the hole? I’ll try you method when I get to the course or off my chipping mat when we are on speaking terms again.

Oh my! I found this video while out on the golf course chipping. Ppl prolly thot I was crazy watching a golf video while out there????but it helped!!!!

I tried this. I thinned it so hard it banked off the bunker edge to left, popped up high and landed one foot from the hole. Love this technique!!!!
For simple chips like that what degree of loft would be most recommended? 52?
vitally important never to 'cock' the wrists… keep them firm like a putt?
Okay okay this technique does not look very nice. But who cares! I finally am able to chip on the green rather than sending my ball across with the speed of a bullit train after I do not know how many years! Thanks Rick!
Wow!! I wish I could buy you a drink. This helped me tremendously!! I'm basically self taught and pretty good with my driver. I hit it around 230+ and straight pretty consistently. With my irons I'm decent. I make pretty good contact and hit straight for the most part. But I'm HORRENDOUS with a capital H when it comes to chipping lol. It's the one part of the game no one ever really taught me. It literally looks like I'm playing ping pong with myself because I'm constantly hitting it over the green whenever I chip ????. This was the first YouTube video that truly helped me learn how to chip. And this method works really good!
This helped me so much today at my local pitch and put. I’m fairly new and sometimes I overcompensate to try and get a little air. This stopped me using my bad habits. Just let the club do the work for me. Thank you!
