Why do all my golf clubs go the same distance. This is one of the most common questions I get asked as a golf coach. In today's video golf tip Brian Fitzgerald the golf doctor shows you very simply why all of your golf clubs go the same distance and what you need to do to fix it.

My name is Brian Fitzgerald – I'm an Australian full time golf coach living in Melbourne and coaching at two venues. The Morack Public GC in Vermont South and the Lang Lang GC in beautiful South Gippsland (An hour and a quarter from Melbourne) where there are lot's of Kangaroos.
FAQ:
How long have you been a golf coach? I qualified as a full member of the Australian PGA back in 1985. Wow I don't feel that old.
Why do you make videos for YouTube? That is a great question and one I get asked a lot. I love helping people play better golf and people tell me I have a very unique coaching style that is very simple to understand. We really should do things simpler. I just make them to help people and if people like my videos they can either come for a golf lesson in person or if that is not possible you could join my membership program and I can then view your golf swing or any part of your game and really help improve what you do.
Do you always change some ones golf swing? To be perfectly honest I try not to. If I do try to change some ones golf swing I have to have a pretty good reason for doing so and the client has to be fully engaged and committed to both regular coaching and practice in order to make that change. Most people say they will do both with good intentions but most fall away pretty quickly.
So my preference is to change things that will improve their score easily. There are so many different ways to do this.
What do you film with? – I have a few few different cameras I use. An old GoPro Hero 4, an iPhone 6 and iPhone X, A Sony ZV1 and an old Panasonic Handy cam (I'm using that less and less now). I record my sound on an old iPhone 4.
What do you edit with? – About a year ago I switched to Adobe Premiere – prior to that it was Pinnacle Studio
Do you make money off YouTube? – Yes.It took me over 100 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense and then another 50 videos to make my next $100. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? – Here's my ko-fi where you can buy me a coffee, beer or a burger should you wish (kind of like giving me a tip via : https://ko-fi.com/thegolfdoctor
Thanks for watching!
Brian
For me it’s just my 6i (30*) & my 5i (27*) that are pretty much exactly the same. 5i just flies lower.
Thank you gonna try this tomorrow at the range
Thanks for the lesson, I think I'm a blocker.
This literally changed my ball flight 100%. I took lessons last winter and was told to have a strong grip and now my lead wrist. Helped my slice, but all my irons went about 110-120 tops. Just went to practice were I hit to a fence that’s about 100 yards away. Took out by five iron, which I can never hit. I rolled my wrists on the way back and through with a more neutral grip. It was probably thirty yards above that fence! No idea on the distance but it was by far the longest 5 iron I’ve ever it. Total game changer! You may have saved my game! Not exaggerating.
Brian, well done. Even in S. California, we may not play much cricket, (yet) however as you mentioned, golfers mention this often. Your vid is excellent and assisting some of the players I work with. thank you.
Sir. You are my savior, direct to the point with clear explanation. I want to try this later ????
As soon as you explained why I almost slapped myself for being so dumb. It makes so much since now!
A great tip here, I am going too say for the past few months I have so been trying to change my shot from a fade to a draw, I have been getting there from changing my swing path but also I have been taking away my club on the back swing and keeping it closed, what I have noticed since the change at the range like on 20 percent of my shots are a clean contact the other 80 percent feel horrible and vibrate through the club any tips for me please, sub added 🙂
can't wait to try this. I've pretty much given up on golf because of this…
The flipping he's talking about is simply allowing the club release naturally through impact. Do the old thumbs up to thumbs up exercise and you'll see and feel it.
This was exactly what I needed to hear.
OK well this kinda makes logical sense, why are there so many vids out there telling everyone not to under any circumstance open or fan the club in the takeaway ? without doing that this move would be impossible would it not ? club surely has to open some for the rotation to happen.
