In this video, I’m breaking down the Juju Swing method to see what's really going on. We’ll analyze Brad Peterson's own swing, his daughter JuJu Peterson, and Matthew Wolff’s to determine whether they’re actually doing what this method promotes—or if there's more happening behind the scenes.
Then we’ll compare those swings to more traditional tour-pro mechanics, examining the similarities, the differences, and the real cause and effect behind each motion. This isn’t about promoting or dismissing a method—it’s about giving you an honest, professional opinion and breakdown based on what I see.
You asked for it—so let’s dive in and take a closer look at whether the Juju Swing lives up to the hype… or if it's another case of style over substance.

Take the 23 Question Self Assessment I created for you to determine what body type suits your swing: https://youtu.be/OV3sRS89lU0
This is a traditional critique of a non traditional way of hitting a golf ball.
The concept of club face being parallel to spine angle is a manufactured concept. With human anatomy, the face rotation is NOT independent of club shaft orientation. In Juju swing, the clubhead and shaft move on a different backswing plane. Clubhead stays outside the hands all the way to the top until transition. The lead wrist goes into cupped position on the way back. The way Juju swing takeaway works, there is no intentional face rotation.
You like Matt Wolff’s take away more than Juju swing but he actually manipulates the club by doing a forward press and going into flat left wrist on the takeaway. He then “recovers” by letting the left wrist cup during the second half of the backswing. The cupped left wrist is a requirement of this type of backswing. In Juju swing, you take away the takeaway manipulation and let the left wrist cup from the start.
The Juju swing is a very natural movement seen in other stick/racquet sports. Eg, lead arm motion seen in squash backhand and trail arm motion in polo.
Brad and I were somewhat friends at one point. To me this is 100% gimmick. It is almost like he adopted this daughter to do this. I was coaching 7 other girls that were her age. With JuJu’s distance she should have destroyed Texas girls golf. Simply because she was 30-40 yards longer than other girls. The young ladies I coached in Houston averaged 68 to 71 range. Lower as they became seniors.
JuJu was upper 80.6 she averaged 91.6 in some NTPGA events which you can verify on blue golf. She won 50 events which was interesting to me carrying a higher scoring average. What I was told he would put her in any tournament. Make up your own mind.
When I moved back to Utah I had 3 former students waiting who see shooting in the low 70’s. 4 more joined and they consistently in the mid to upper 60’s their senior years. Throughout the year he would check in with me on how my girls were doing. They were pretty much on cruise control at that point battling brutal weather and a region schedule. When all was said and done those girls finished 5th, 3rd and 2nd at state. My girls went all over the country to play for some schools with golf backgrounds. A couple others stayed locally. Juju played for Troy. So far I have a few all Americans, medalists and great players.
I used to try and copy Nelly Korda. Then I relized I'm 5'6" 210 lbs and not THAT flexible.
What is your opinion on the hitter vs singer? Just another clic bait.
Honestly this is probably a good drill to use to see and feel lag but i dont think this transfers to higher levels. I feel bad for his daughter such a natural talent that will have to relearn her swing to make it far at the higher level. Shes so good she makes the swing work but its just not consistent enough. Yeah she hits it further than most pro golfers but golis not ourely distance which is why long drivers dont necesaarily do well.
It really shouldn't matter but I will only not swing like this because of how it looks… dumb reason. It's easy to do for me. I filmed a few and I actually do a decent job keeping everything connected but I figure since I've only been golfing 6 months why go into something like this. I'm left handed and swing right and am very prone to using my lead side. This gave me the feeling of rerouting to the proper place. I can get a similar feeling taking it outside and then in but apparently that's bad. I'll figure something out.
I think he has some spine issues that are probably causing the turn limitations. I’ve watched a few of his videos and he talked about back surgeries. Unrelated to this swing though. I got the impression it was some condition he’s dealt with but he hits it far. Think his daughter does too.
Perhaps this arm move’s value which he hasn’t acknowledged or a drill someone could use to help the body rock back and tilt better without over rotating transversally and parent becoming too flat for those players who struggle getting on the back heel too early . ,but indeed such advice not placing things in context as a whole is destructive not to mention the extra stress on the back using such a wild head path . She rotates a hip back much better and drops the club properly as her weight shifts much better to the left side hence her swing looks more proper , anyway from my perspective anyway . What the guy should explain is for whom this swing may work , how to derive that with what tests . Thx tony
This is simply a method that's radically different from the old school swing because it doesn't require you to roll the club open on the backswing and time the downswing in order to return the club square to the ball. In other words, the club is square from start to finish. I used the old, conventional swing for 70 years and I learned Juju in 5 minutes by watching the girl in the videos. All you do is drag the club back with a supinated right wrist, then at the top, start down and allow this wrist to pronate – I'm not recommending this swing but I'm sticking with it.
this is the same as the kawaswing/// kawashallow guy isnt it
Oh I just discovered JuJu golf and I came here to see if you've done a review….ouila
This would definitely shorten my swing plane coming up to just shoulder height with the club in the position that he identifies with the club face down and then coming through with almost a whipping action. I tried it with the simulator that I have here at the house, it’s definitely gives me a almost a John Rom type of swing
Matt Wolf? 🐺
To me it's kind of like a variation of Jim Furyk's swing. Many years ago I had a slice I was trying to get rid of and for a whole summer I tried to swing like Jim and my slice vanished.
Can you do half swings with this style?
I’ve been following Brad’s free videos for nine months now, and the results have been getting better and better. From the very beginning, I was able to hit two or three really long shots and finally achieve a right elbow position much closer to my right hip.
All I had to fix were the small gaps in information I had at certain points, but Brad explains everything in many different ways throughout the course and on his website — he’s very thorough about it.
As you start removing the issues from your old swing and do what Brad’s model teaches, the ball flight keeps improving, and it truly is a swing for life. I’m a 7 handicap, and I’ll keep working with it for a long time, because so far it’s helped me lower my scores and play some great rounds of golf.
He looks really bent over at setup
Why would you put the club in the wrong position in the takeaway then try to get it in the right position in the downswing?
It looks like gravity golf
His backswing is an extremely difficult athletic move. The first quarter is almost like a shoulder based putting stroke where you keep the club face square to the target. Then, he whips his right arm around, with his disconnected right elbow, and gets the club back on a more traditional line at the top ready to drop into the slot for a traditional downswing.
If Freddie Couples’s slightly outside backswing that he drops into the slot on the downswing is a 7-8 difficulty and very athletic…. This move is like a 15… not really something normal folks should chase.
I should have waited for the end!!! Yes!!! If your handicap is above 16, feel this outside takeaway, shut clubface, be patient, and hit the piss out of it
All I can say is ouch on this one. I like keeping the club face a little shut, but these .movements are extreme for me. What I am seeing in this video is great. Amazing athletes can hit these positions, us mere mortals can't 😅
I definitely can't hit that position. 😅😂 about 7:30 in
Before I even watched the video, I was thinking if Matt Wolf and Dustin Johnson had a baby!?! Just based on the screenshot, I'm excited to watch this! You already know I'm gonna give my 2 cents, 5 cents, or pension 😂😂
@10:05 if you can’t do that, I don’t think you can swing traditionally either lol.
