In this golf video, experienced golf professional Mark Crossfield talks you through when you should be looking to replace your golf clubs.

Key Points Covered:

Mark goes through the entire bag to explain when and why you should look at buying new golf clubs or replacing the clubs you are currently playing with. From iron sets and wedges, to drivers, hybrids and fairway woods, Mark explains how changing your golf clubs can help you play better golf, and why your current set MIGHT be holding you back from better golf scores.

We all love shiny new toys, and plenty of us have favourite golf clubs that we would never even dream of changing, but here are some key points that could influence whether or not the time is right for you to buy new golf clubs:

– Lifestyle changes: How often do you play now vs when you first took up the game and bought your current set?
– Age: Unfortunately, we all get older, and at some point we will all lose some speed. Make sure your clubs aren't holding you back when this happens.
– Conformity: Your golf clubs do NOT have to conform to traditional ideas of how a set of clubs should be made up. They ONLY need to hit certain distances. Mark explains how best to ensure your clubs “blend” at the top and bottom ends of your bag.

Why Watch?

Effective Drills: Mark demonstrates practical drills that anyone can incorporate into their practice routine.
Proven Results: These tips have been tested with some of the world’s best players, ensuring their effectiveness.
When to buy new golf clubs: If you're struggling with your current equipment, or are flirting with the idea of buying new golf clubs, this video will help you understand when and why is the right time to replace your golf clubs.

Good video, know your yardages, I had a 3h and 4h that went pretty much the same despite 4 degrees difference, I have a AW and a 50, my longest iron is a 7, then my 6H, I am a low handicap player. And my irons are “ game improvement” but my Apex DCBs have amazing feel

Most 5 handicap golfers could beat Crossfield with a set of Ping Eye 2's.

This is such great advise. Love it Mark! All great thoughts and questions…

Ive come back to golf after 15 years. And nothing has changed.. “longer. More forgiving” every year they say this. Should be twice the distance by now.. They’re the same.

Good insights Mark, easy to get new shiny things, hoping the game will improve!

Just got myself a new set of zx5 mk2 this year, got them fitted what a major change in my game :D. I was using 25 year old clubs as my training wheels till i started to play better.

@gilfisher2107 says:

I watched a YouTube match, Grant Horvat vs Bryson. Grant got to buy $200 thrift store clubs for Bryson to play. He picked the 2002 Hogan irons that I’M STILL PLAYING. I saw that as a sign that I need new irons ????. Great video Mark. Excellent advice.

I used to despise strong lofted irons. However, now that I'm nearing 60, the results with my traditionally lofted irons (47° PW, 31° 6-iron) got too frustrating. I was about to get fitted for a set of "players distance irons", when I remembered that I had someting similar in my basement. Enter the 12 year old Cleveland 508tt irons, which I hardly ever used, because I bought them as my exlusive "travel irons", when they were dirt cheap. And then I did not travel that much by plane to play golf. I am now so happy with them. I even use the 21° 4-iron to good effect, because most of the courses I play are pretty linksy.
On the other hand, I was stoked to buy a new Cobra ("advanced technology") driver to replace my F7 from 2017, and I am less than impressed with the results on the course, even if I put the familiar shaft, which works great in the F7 into the new head. My 3 -wood is still a the Nike VR LE from 2011. I tried dozens of others, nothing comes close.

I still play with a set of Howson Hunter irons ive had since i was about 13. Stepped away from golf for some years and now fallen back in love with it again. I feel for sure a new set would improve my game as the technology has moved on substantially. Will enjoy the experience of being custom fit also. Great video as always Mark ????️‍♀️

@gerrykelly2440 says:

Has golf iron distances really changed in the last 10 years? Or have they just changed the angles of the lofts to fool us? Golf manufacturers are very devious.

@SigmaJAD says:

Bloody great advice Mark

@Matthew45447 says:

Hi mark just after some advice on my wedges my PW is 46 degree what degree of wedges do I need after that thanks

@dougbutabi5085 says:

I just switched from playing Callaway Razr x Tours for 12 years to Mizuno MP-33’s. I changed because the forged blades are a lot more forgiving on misshits, yeah it might sting a little but when you miss hit the newer hollow clubs you get ball bounce and I go OB way too much. The forged blades don’t allow me to smack it so far OB lol I dropped my handicap by 2 just switching
