Here's the real secret: Call a shot by it's proper name. A "chip" shot is a low trajectory shot that rolls farther than it flies. It has no backspin – that's the point of the shot. It has overspin so it rolls out and you can control it like a long putt. A "Pitch" is a lofted shot that flies farther than it rolls (like the second shot he hits) and has spin when properly executed.
