Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

  1. I'm a brand new golfer. Been at in a few months now in my garage during the cold season. I learned all my fundamentals from Tom Saguto. That was until I decided it was time to start working on the driver. For some reason Toms swing approach didnt resonate with me and I was off into slice hell. Lemme tell ya folks, it was bad. I knew all the basics; ball position, wide stance, spine angle, tilt. Still, slice city. On a whim I watched this video. I've become a junky and Ricks videos consistently have been entertaining and fun to watch. Admittedly, I haven't really sought out tips from Rick though. That was until today. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but this video is the one that made it click for me. The discussion on grip, club face, and ESPECIALLY the arm/wrist segment finally got me hitting it straight/left. When I combined that with the "arms dropping behind you" tip, everything fell into place. I feel like i'm "seeing" the ball and I can tell my swing feels so different. I actually got slightly emotional. I know I need to be able to drive the ball to play good golf and have some real fun out there and this short video is the one that makes me feel im starting to get it. Thanks Rick!

  2. Is it a good idea to change grip position to compensate for a slice? If your grip is perfect shouldn't you focus on the actual reason why you are slicing it e.g. in-to-out swing?

  3. Really struggling with my slice! Use to hit my drives straight and far! But none stop slicing now even with a callaway rouge draw driver! Will try this down the range this week.

  4. Please help my 12 year old son be the best in South Africa there is. Bonus. I’ll pay for your round at Maritzburg Golf Club the oldest GC in South Africa if you do. PS. You’re a legend.

  5. I wish I could sort my my slice out Rick it’s driving me crazy ? it’s hard when you’re on your own and can’t watch your own swing. I’ve just started playing again after 20 years but since I played back then I’m obviously 20 years older (59) and had some vertebrae damage along the way which hinders me a little. My problem is I can only carry the ball 170yrds because of the tail off at the end of the ball flight and I’m sure it is loosing me distance, to make things more complicated I’m left handed but play right handed and it almost feels like I’m braking on my downswing, I’m sure I’ve got the grip correct just as you show in this video so I’m thinking it’s got to be the Path that’s wrong! Another problem I’m having is I can hit my irons just as far as my driver and every now and then my iron shots will dart severely to the right when they hit the ground! Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks Andy

  6. Hi Rick, what do you think about the impact stickers? I heard you recommend athlete’s foot spray. I am using stickers when hitting into a net at home and it’s really helped. I am new at learning golf and watching all of your training. I don’t watch other training channels as IME, having one coach is better.

  7. Actually I am really grateful to you Rick
Today was my fourth day when I went to a golf range
    I never tried before and
I just nailed three times the 205 yard flag
    I was so happy
    The irons are promising too
And just came back and I want to go again
I never been in golf court
It’s gonna be another challenge but I sometimes I can feel the beauty of my shots and it’s incredible

    Thank you for that
    And thanks for the videos
    Very helpful and
I prefer to watch you guys play more then watch a movie now
    So thank you for that
I’m just considering to buy a golf set
Might help better then this what i bought for $60 ??

  8. Rick, I can't thank you enough. I haven't played for 6-7 years before the last couple months. It didn't even take 9 holes in my first round for that strong as hell slice (that I never managed to get rid of back in the days) to show its ugly face again. I just stopped using my driver for most tee shots, just like I used to do. Then I watched this video… First round I applied those tips, I shaved off a good 5-10 shots from not having to lay the ball back from the forest on every other hole. It made it much, much more manageable, to the point I started trusting myself with the club once again. Still somehow have a bit of a fade going on, but man, it's good to be able to use a driver once again. Thank you so much.

  9. If you ever want to make a video of a poor golfer and teach instructions for one day to see the difference I’m open for you to come to Columbus Georgia and be that subject

  10. I have literally tried everything, it all looks so easy in all of these videos, I’ve quit and re taken up golf like 5 times in my life, just took it up again and I’m ready to quit again. I was just born to slice, what someone even considers a slice, is not even close to mine. My ball literally takes a complete right turn and rolls to the right, my slice is so deeply engrained, I don’t think I will ever fix it, ready to quit again. Everyone’s body dimensions and traits are different, I literally think I’m just built to slice!

  11. Watched this video. Went straight to the course yesterday (not even driving range). Strengthened my grip to see two knuckles on my back hand. I didn't hit a single slice (or even cut) all day. Thank you so much, sincerely.

  12. So I’ve always had a slice, and being new to golf I barely break 100. I used the grip tip and nearly every drive was straight as an arrow or a tiny slice but shot 88 today. Thank you, saved me £50 on lessons.
