Getting the golf ball in the right position WITH DIFFERENT IRONS in your setup might seem like a simple thing, but it’s something many golfers struggle with and get in to bad habits with. In this golf lesson Matt Fryer Golf takes you through the ball positions with a long, mid and short iron needed to hit better iron shots. By following the guide in this golf lesson you will be able to get the perfect ball position for each iron and see that you are getting the desired ball flight!.

If you watch all the professional golfers, from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and dating back to the Likes of Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, they are all very precise about where they put the ball in their stance and when making a standard golf the ball position with the relevant golf club is the same.

Get the perfect ball position with the lesson and play better golf.

Just started 2 weeks ago and loving it. Thanks for the lesson my swings have been looking great at the range thank you🤟

TA L. says:

I like your video visual labels. I took a photo on my phone for reference. I am new to golfing and I was having problems picking my clubs. I have no issues with the driver….but the clubs were confusing to me and I was avoiding them at all costs. I certainly have a better understanding now after watching your clip. I also liked that your explanation was clear, especially on club placement on the body and on the grass. Thanks so much. Watching from Nova Scotia, Canada.

MrWubzHD says:

curious then how one length irons work because they are all 7 iron length and are all suppose to be played with the ball in a 7 iron position

I know the video is a bit old Matt but it's just what I needed! I keep forgetting this all the time and just take the same setup every time. Thanks for reminding me!

Ryan D says:

What grip pressure would you have and is that the same with all clubs?

PhySicS ArIeL says:

Great tips especially the distance from the golf ball by dropping the club end to your knee. I have quite a big belly and never sure if I’m standing to far away from the ball

Ahmad Ghanem says:

Machinegun Preacher says:

I have been getting destroyed by my 3 iron. I keep either skulling or hitting sumo wrestler fat . No one has ever even given me a clue as to how to micro adjust irons at address. Instant sub just for solving that problem. Thank you good sir!

Harvey Helka says:

love this video. i will use this guide. matt do you have a video for striking the ball with the ball above the feet or below ?

Star Light says:

I'll be going to the range tonight to practice this.

I have been taking the same stance for 5 iron through to SW and as you could guess it ain't working! I really struggle with 5 and 6 iron but gets easier the more loft on the club.

Changing my address position could be the key, cheers Matt!

Brent Trading says:

Too long winded mate..

Max Smart says:

Ball position never changes. Foot position changes from club to club.

Brians Golf Works says:

Great Lesson! I've had the wrong ball placement forever because it was never fixed during any of my lessons. Your insight confirmed my thinking. I can't wait to try your Recommended ball position.

Cory Care says:

Nice, simplified explanation of ball position. You're right, based on our individual swings the ball position can be different from player to player. I've been experimenting with my 7 iron, from total center to just a bit to the left. What is comical in golf is how our swing and contact change from day to day. The question is always, "Who is showing up today? Fred Couples or Fred Flintstone" 🙂 Thanks Matt!

Med Float says:

Well done Mr. Fryer. Great explanation and demonstration.

William Graebe says:

Great lesson on ball position. Thank you.
