Extremely well done on this video. Most intro sections are exhausting, don't summarize what the video is going to cover, etc. Then the content of the video is oversaturated and not well organized. Your intro let me know what was going to be covered, then you jumped right into it. Thanks for the video.
I’m going to respectfully disagree. I played a big draw (push hook) for 20 years, and couldn’t break 70. Then started to intentionally play a low cut. Not as long, but high 60s instantly. Just my take.
I’m going to respectfully disagree. I played a draw (push/hook) for 15 years and never got below 70 (I’m on the range for 2 hours every day for 15 years). When I started to intentionally play a low cut, I started shooting in the high 60s. Much more controllable. Just my take.
Play better
You sure that isn't a 9 iron? I suck and it a 6 iron 175ish.
I don't think shallowing out the club on the downswing is necessary for pure ball striking. It is one way, for sure. But keeping the club in front of me has allowed me to avoid big left and right misses and hit squeeze fades that are still well struck but go a little shorter and come in with more spin. Personally I find this a much better way of playing as almost all my problems were coming from the 'late from the inside' flip that I used to have.
160 yard 6 iron? I can fade a 9 to 160

I clay my name is steve i do this all the time up on the practice grounds at worksop golf club at the weekends forwards safetlean icall this movement a three step movement 123 then swing through to full finish striking the ball perfectly thanks mate steve
Great video, besides the fact no scratch golfer is looking for tips on YouTube.
Either way, there's good info here for all skill levels. My goal is to break 85, but this I'll be trying the compression drill. I hit a decent power fade but my miss is an off the planet slice. A draw would help.
Your videos provide great "headlines" on how to be successful overall. However, for those of us who have played golf for 20 years or more (< 5 HC), we are looking for very detailed inspection of the little hidden things that keep us out of championship form. I.E. Getting up and down from a fairway bunker (yeah, I know…avoid the bunker in the first place). Getting up and down over the high side of a green to a short side pin (yeah, I know…don't miss the green, and if you do, don't miss on the short high side). Playing from a divot. Chipping from a bunker against the lip. Wind. Those who play around par have forgotten swing mechanics and chip distance control years ago. We just do this automatically. We need to increase magnification of the moment when trouble arises. We don't just swing at the ball, we aggressively seek immediate resolution to trouble, right NOW, without risk to par. At this level of development (Breaking 70), being a scratch or sub-par golfer has less to do with good swing mechanics than it does responding with very, very, very effective solution to bad results…AND if you do something wrong or find yourself in a vulnerable position…follow it up IMMEDIATELY with a choice that puts you into a position for the best opportunity to stop touching the ball. I.E. stop trying to hit onto a waterfront green from 250 after a penalty…(lay up and give yourself a chance to chip in from dry land on the open side). The idea that a 12 HC golfer can become a scratch player by taking risks after mistakes is the biggest lie corrupting the amateur game. The "do no harm" approach after a mistake may cost you a stroke on a hole…but it is less likely to destroy your round, or worse, your tournament. Acceptance and perseverance, not swing mechanics, are going to get you to sub-70 much faster than mindlessly pounding range balls for hours a day. Perfect your approach to golf by accepting your current level of ability in order to make the necessary changes to improve. Magnify the critical moments. Be proactive, not reactive. Imagine the perfect shot before you touch the ball, don't react to a crappy shot after you fail to prepare for missing it. Practice smart. Imagine yourself in "game time" situations when practicing. Don't ever touch a ball without executing your pre-shot routine. EVER! Perfect your choice making and rehearse your action. Do this with faith and grace for failure off the course so you can allow yourself to experience success after a mistake. If you miss a green, imagine yourself holing out for a birdie. If you miss a fairway, imagine yourself hitting it to a foot from the recovery position. If you go into a hazard, imagine playing for bogie with confidence you can birder the next hole. I did two things that changed my golf life forever. I played three successive rounds with a 7 iron and a putter, and, on a separate occasion, I took every stroke blind folded and had to say what the result was without seeing it. You want to know what its like to play truly handicapped? Try these.
I LOVE this title. I skipped the break 90 and break 80 videos. Not interested. I want to break 70!!!
It might be really cool to see a video where you play a round and you talk about your thought process on each stroke.

great video but sick and tired of the lag excerpt on the end of every bloody video ?
You might have answered this before, but are you shooting these just before dusk after the last golfers have cleared the first few holes? Or is it during the busy time and you're like "I'm making videos here, play thru!"
I always enjoy your tuition videos Clay. Simple, consistent and 'on point' This is one shares the same pedigree. John M (UK)
