Did you Know that you can swing slower but hit the ball further? In this video Danny Maude reveals how by improving your strike with driver and irons, specifically compression, you can hit the golf ball further with no extra effort.

In fact live on video he adds 20 yards to an iron shot with no extra club head speed what's so ever.

If you are like most amateur golfers and don't have the body of a Bryson De Chambeau or the club head speed of a Rory Mcilroy or Tiger Woods, then improving the type of strike you get with both your driver and irons is the single most important thing you can do to hit the golf ball further.

Here's the practice plan and summary of this weeks lesson

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.

I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.

We look at 3 things:

1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver

and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing

Hope you enjoy

Hi Danny, thanks for all your videos, they really help, as a 64 year young woman who’s been playing golf since I was 17 sometimes I find it difficult to always adhere to younger pro’s advice due to arthritis etc, but if you can interpret it in such a way that it suits what you’re body will allow you to do it can certainly work.
I’ve been struggling due to covid and lockdowns to get my fitness back, but thankfully I’m almost there. So I’ve been playing our courses first 11 holes, and today it just all clicked. My handicap is 19,2, and with our course rating I get 20 shots, 10 on each half, and this morning for the first time in my life I shot a gross 5 over par 39 on the first 9, so with my handicap that’s a net 29, I was absolutely gob smacked, and just wanted to say a huge thanks for all your advice.

john keeney says:

I'm new to golf and I find myself trying to kill it every time. I def outdrive my playing partners even with only having about a year of experience but I find myself chunking all the time. I'm also so tense during my swing that I spray it everywhere. And after every chunk, my second shot is beautiful. I'm 6'2", 240lbs and recently I was out driven by someone who weighed 100lbs less, so this lesson is absolutely correct. Just wish I could get this tempo in my head. Every time I see a ball I want to kill it.

H says:

I love it how you don't daze & confuse your viewers with inane concepts & terms. Rather, you give us actionable steps & feels to actually get better, not worse!

Alessandro Rorato says:

once you understand that the legs get the club fall 90 degrees to the ball direction (club going down, ball going left), the body naturally moves in the right way, no need to extra lessons on weight shift or lag… nice job danny!

Dan Whitehurst says:

Great video. Most people learn to swing fast before they learn to hit the ball solid and correctly solid. Proper launch angle and spin numbers out preform speed. After the former is dialed, speed can then be increased. If you think pros swing slowly and hit it far you’re nuts. The average clubhead speed on tour is 114mph. They just hit it solid and have good launch/spin efficiently.
I picked up 25 yards in 2017 and kept it with a little swing tweek and driver upgrade and spec change.
Trust me. I’ve been club fitting for 25 years. Hitting it solid with high launch and lower spin hits it further at any speed. Then add speed until it compromises the first part.

Randy Flud says:

So I’m getting more consistent with my swing and contact. However my 7 iron use to be my best iron. I would almost always hit it great. Now that I’ve changed a few things my 7 iron launches balls straight up and my other irons hit just fine. I’m not sure what I need to do to fix it.

Herb Jones says:

You give great golf lessons, but you must stop saying FURTHER when you should be saying FARTHER.

Michael Oberst says:

Holy Grail swing

John Herman says:

Always good stuff Danny. You’re the best!

Marilyn Hunter says:

Thanks Danny, I'll put this to practice tomorrow at our ladies golf day..?️‍♀️

Paul Thomson says:

blah blah blah. go get a lesson and practice.

Lifeson Fan says:

Howdy from Virginia..
Reminds me of your great mental image of unscrewing the jar lid with your feet.

What's your best round at Royal St.

Jason Torian says:

So….how does this apply to hybrids and woods…off the tee…and off the deck?

Bob Gambino says:

The release point is pretty similar for both iron and driver swings. The ball positioning is key.

James McClane says:

Don't you want the loft of your short clubs? Why would you want to deloft your 8 iron for more distance when you could just hit your 7 if you needed a couple of extra yards?

Adam says:

Here's me at 11:30 at night jonesing for a range hit after this….

Rich S says:

Great lesson again Danny.?You make it so easy to understand. Hopefully I will remember this when playing tomorrow ! I am getting better slowly but need to be more consistent. Any advice please?

Terry Myers says:

Another great video can't wait to try it out

Charlotte Braun says:

I still don’t see how you can hit the ball so far even when you don’t swing right????????

Barry Emery says:

This looks great, will try this on the range tomorrow before the Tuesday Roll up, thanks Danny.

16diggs says:

Fantastic. Assume the same applies to fairway woods but the turn/thrust is somewhere between driver and iron? Thanks, David

Richard Kilduff says:

Danny, with your new bunker lesson with the butterfly grip you did not mention how far to hit behind the ball?
