What is the right weight driver shaft? which driver shaft should you use? Does a shaft change make any difference? Well today I use the ultra lightweight TSi1 Shaft and Head and also throw in a Tensei 65G X Stiff shaft to see if shafts actually make any difference at all?
Watch now and see how shocking the results are?

Most golfers ??♂️ I play with are closer to 85-95 mph than 100 plus mph.
Is it even possible to 'fit 'a player like this, with such a random strike, swing, etc ?
Maybe he should test the tsi1 with the 55gram reg flex tensei blue
Think you should give Allan the TS1 driver, out the goodness of you heart for appearing on your channel, Lee!!???
I’m desperate for an updated driver – may have to make the long trip down for a proper fitting ?
Shaft is king ?
Great to see real people with my swing speed being fitted
3:42 something for people to think about. His slowest swing 90mph was his furthest carry 220yds. Absolutely no need to swing out your shoes to knock the skin off the ball, that 220 carry is a 250 yard tee shot all day ???
Great video Lee! In one of your lockdown videos you mentioned the different compression rates of balls..would love to see Alan get a ball fitting and see how much of a difference it makes!
Great video as always Lee, the shaft definitely makes a difference, Alan get your wallet out mate, it will be money well worth spent.
Hope you’ve done Alan a solid good deal poor bloke.
I totally agree that the weight and bend profile of a shaft has a significant effect on optimising a Driver to suit a specific Golfers Swing DNA.
During a fitting, I prefer that a fitter doesn't tell me what changes they are making to the shafts etc to ensure that I only react to the "change in feel". Otherwise, I have a tendency to react to the information (this is heavier/lighter, stiffer etc) which can then influence the end result.
Personally, I am sensitive to the weight of a shaft, too light or too heavy and my dispersion/ball flight is all over the place, but when the weight is "just right" I am able to time the swing and my dispersion gets tighter and the carry increases.
Great videos with Alan Lee… content is ???
I am enjoying the slightly lighter Tensei Orange 55. I hope you and Allan test a shaft in that weight as well.
I have a 12 degree Cleveland HBTurbo 45.5 inch Regular flex and a Nike Vapor speed with an A flex 44.5 inch shaft set at 11.5 degrees. The difference at my swing speed (85-90 mph) is about 12 yards more with the regular flex, one inch longer shaft (220 -230 yards). The Nike is a fairway finder though!
Thanks for testing a club with a 'regular' golfer. ?
Smart move. Tell Allen we are going to do a video on driver shafts. Real reasons get him worn out before the match and also to spend money Inna new driver ???
Interesting from a fitting perspective, shows that fittings can make a hell of a difference. But, I think the wight and shaft types should have been kept secret and then ask the questions about how it feels.
Hi Lee, yep, he is definitely a funny fellow, but the fitting and testing was invaluable . . go Allan.
What flex shaft is the 40 gram?
Would have been good to see 65 reg…as i have a bit of a problem with the real lightweight shafts where i loose feel ….so i find a reg somewhere 55-60 seems to suit me the best
Really interesting video Lee. I have bought an off the shelf Cobra SZ and whilst I hit it well I’m wondering if I could improve my figures with a different shaft.
You've well and truly shafted Alan, he's going to spend even more money on golf now he has seen the benefits of having a good shaft.
Great video lee I feel sorry for Alan as he’s now gonna spend more money lol but what this does prove is shafts do matter not only in speed of the swing but control over the club head
